Full functioning mac OS x on my XPS gen 2 - Page 13

I have a problem now. I had deadmoo's X86 and it was great and all. The only two things I didn't have going with it where higher res and wireless. I uninstalled it and used the dev dvd install. It was very easy to do and I was able to put it on it's own partition(any size I wanted). But now I don't have sound. Also I am still stuck with the same low res. I have a 9300 is there a better res I can get and how do I get it. Please help as I like using the OS alot and it has been pretty stable for me as well.

I had to patch the deadmoo install for SSE3, do I need to do that with the developer dvd one as well?

you probably didnt notice the option when u installed, if u didnt customize the install that it has the sse2 hack listed as an install option, yes the dev doesnt have audio, i will zip up the file you need for audio, you can just download it and put it in your /System/Library/Extensions and do a repair permissions from the disk utility program

sweet, please do this.

What about the res, how did you get it to go higher?

Whoa; nice screenie with the Pentium M listed. Btw, you guys updated your bios revision to A04? Is that the same as the A04 update for i9300? I'm still running A03 because the bios changes/fixes don't seem to affect me, and I don't want to go through the whole flashing thing (unless in can be done from Windows). I almost flashed my Sony burner with the new firmware, until I realized that it was the latest version already, lol.
Unless you have a compelling reason like a hardware issue or some such, why would you flash your bios or sony burner? If it aint broke....dont fix it

ok try extracting this and moving in your extensiosn folder and fixing the extensions, if you already have it don't replace, i believe this was just missing on the dvd hack.

you can edit the /Library/Prefrences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
do sudo nano /Library/Prefrences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist at the terminal and where it has this:

Code:
\t"<"key">"Kernel Flags"<"/key">"
\t"<"string">""<"/string">"

change it to:

Code:
\t"<"key">"Kernel Flags"<"/key">"
\t"<"string">""Graphics Mode"="2048x1536x32""<"/string">"

ignore the quotes around the > and the < the forum is mistaking them for HTML codes.

replace 2048x1536x32 with the resolution you wan't, i think this will only work on external monitors i think i was stuck at 1280x1024 on my LCD.

When I get into the Terminal and type what you said all I get is a blank window, it says

GNU nano 1.2.4 File: ...s/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist Modified

After that nothing....

hmm the AC97 file didn't work as well.

After I put it in the fold and do a repair I reboot and I get an error that says it was not installed properly.

Yes. But the best way is to creat a partition with NTFS then delete it. That leaves the space still and OSX will see it.

I WAS REALLY SAD FOR A MOMENT ... CONSOLE RESTORE OF XP DIDN'T WORK, NO FIXBOOT ... BUT WHAT HAVE WORKED IS THE "NORTON GHOST RECOVERY CD 9.0", THAT HAVE A TOOL FOR RESTORE MBR... I DON'T KNOW WHY XP CONSOLE DIDN'T WORK FOR ME, BUT NOW I FEEL HAPPY AGAIN WITH NORTON

Sorry for this size words, but my need to advice you all.

all it does is take the boot flag off your XP partition you can fix it again easy with fdisk/cfdisk from a linux boot.
