1600x1200x8 works but it's grayscale.
Which video card do you have? Maybe that's the issue...I have a 6800 Go, and VESA 3.0 is supported

That is after the maxxuss patches v4.0 i believe. Still no go with restart, but i shut down ok. Can you even use bluetooth?? Wehn i turn it on, and i go to discover devices, it cant find my PPC or my Phone.

If there's more patches I need, then can you point me in the right direction?

Thanks

I have a 6800 Ultra. Detects as VESA 3.0 but it will not boot in 1600x1200x16 despite showing up in ?video.

Bluetooth works. It detected my other XPS and my cellphone. However, iSync (updated to 2.1) crashes when I try to sync. Fault of the program, not bluetooth.

[Edit] For booting, are you using platform=x86pc? If you are, remove it. If you aren't try putting it on. Then try rebooting.

Im not sure what you mean -- new to the OSX thingy -- i have deadmoo's HDD image running on a dual boot from XPS2 startup.

When you get the darwin boot prompt (press any key)

Select the OSX partition
Type: platform=x86pc

That's the only way i know how to do it...

I had been playing with the native DVD install on the PC, but I finally got around to dual boot on my 9300 yesterday. Works great. Once we get some wireless and nvidia drivers, we'll be straight! I am surprised the 2915 isn't supported already by apple.

If you're doing it that way, stop and see if it'll boot and reboot cleanly.

When i boot, it is set up to ask what os to boot, then if you hit mac os, it then tells you to select the drive -- I selevt -x86 Tiger and it boots into apple os -- is there another way to get to the OS wthout doing this??

EDIT: BTW, i installed maxximus 5.0c drivers, and now i can reboot. Still cant get the BT working though -- maybe its my devices. Anybody get a PPC to recognize on mac os?

Kudos to everyone who contributed on this forum. Can't wait to show this to my "Why did you waste your time getting a Windows laptop" crew.

lol

thanks,

BT will only work if you do the FPMem fix, see my previous posts, just delete it.

The FPMem fixes USB. BT connects via USB(some variant). Once you fix USB, BT works.

You can set it to quiet boot. www.xplodenet.com - Tips and Tricks.

Thanks for the BT fix! My Logitech MX900 works with integrated BT with both buttons working I'm so happy!
Pyr0 are you taking about the AppleFPMemdriver? The thing that makes your USBmouse work? I did that and can use usb, but still no connect w/ BT.
Yes, AppleFPMem.ktext.

Once you remove it (or rename it), it should start working. This is with the standard BT module (350) that comes from Dell.

I have the Apple OS X developer disk that is patched for SSE2. When I try to install on my 9300 from the OSX patched DVD I get an error that says : "disk1s2 : unsupported mode - SAM Multimedia: Read or Write failed, ASC = 0 x 64, ASCQ = 0 X 00". What do I do from here ?
Maybe something happened when you patched and then burned. Check the OSX forum installation section for more detail.

Can take 5 times to patch to DVD and get the correct checksum. I lucked out and all went well straight away. Others have posted that the correct image got a bad burn, reburned and all was well.

You say apple deveoper disk, ae your sure its the correct image? check the OSx forum for links to download, and try piratebay.org for torrents

Well worth following up with, runs great on 9300, cheers

Hey congrats, when you say 2 buttons, I take it you mean left and right. Were you able to get forward / back to work for surfing? I have a wired MX518 and no can do there. I tried downloading the apple version of logitech desktop but couldnt get it to load properly

Anyone have a workaround? that would be great

The OSx forum has links for getting broadcom based wireless to work. I'm thinking of getting a true mobile card if nowt happens for 2915

Cheers
i dunno but i personally think it is just a matter of time and we should be able to get the intel 2915's running
post #299 of 462
I can confirm that truemobile 1450 is working good on a XPS2...
I finally got it going. Downloaded a patched ready to go Install DVD. That did the trick.

My main gripes now are : No wireless on the 2915 and no drivers for the touchpad.

I know people are working on the wireless part but how about drivers for the touchpad ? Navigating is pretty cumbersome without them.
