I acquired a new Toshiba Tecra A3 as part of an E-Learning component in a course I'm to start in a couple of weeks. I've got some problems with the sound which I do not think are normal. I'm finding the sound to be VERY low.
Turned up completely I have to be hunched tightly over the laptop to hear a DVD thats playing (and yes the in program volume is up all the way). I tried putting in headphones and this did not really improve the ability to hear it at all.
Are these machines known for their very low sound out-put, or is there something I'm missing here?
All volume settings were checked and found to be at top levels.

I looked for a volume button before but coudln't find one in any obvious position, after you mentioned it again I managed to find it on the front, somewhat hidden and not clearly marked after flipping it over to look.
