What happened with the 100Gb @ 7200 rpm?? Dell started sell it witht the iXPS2 and after stopped... Why? Hmm, and now? Dell doesn't will sell it more? Where we can buy?

Supply has not kept up with demand.

Well Dell isn't the primary company to get thoses drives it's IBM and EMC since they are in demand for notebook drives and they will pay top dollar to get them first.

IBM makes the drives you know.... Hitachi GST is a combo effort of IBM and Hitachi...

I must have looked at 50 or 60 online stores for a Hitachi 7K100 100GB drive. *Everyone* is out of stock, so I can definitely see there is some kind of supply problem.

However, there are plenty of SATA versions (rather than PATA) available... Maybe Dell should quickly change over to a serial ATA interface, and then start offering the drives again.

My new Dell catalog says that if you opt for the 80 or 100GB drives on the XPS both are 7200RPM drives.
