i recently sent in my 8790 for the well known articating issue. i use the computer primarily for 3D modeling, animation and rendering and the artifacting was making it impossible to work. When i received my laptop back from RMA i noticed that the memory was clocked down to 220 MHz. I thought this was odd so i ran maya and 3d studio. There were no artifacts. i tried UT 2004 and didn’t notice anything after 10-15 minutes so i downloaded ATI tool and clocked it back to the original 270MHz. When i started up UT 2004 i had major artifacting in the start up screen. apparently their method of fixing this problem has changed. i had marked my MB and saw that they did not replace it, just noted that they replaced the VGA RAM. i don’t think they did anything of the sort and they are just trying to get away with a design flaw that they are sick of fixing. I have emailed them and am awaiting a response, but this is over my limit of customer patience. Not having my computer for 2 weeks costs me money, perhaps sager would like to refund that and the laptop if they cant fix this problem.
