New Promise Drivers on Sager's site

Folks, I just posted this on Sager's tech support site:

>I just noticed on your driver site, the following item: Windows Promise ATA >Drivers for Windows XP (Version 1.00.0.29) 17-Aug-05 88 KB
>
>Can you tell me if I could benefit from this upgrade. My Sager 9680 has a >SATA drive. You can email or call me.

Any comments. I'm not knowledgeable about ATA or SATA as it relates to this driver.

I think when I boot up, I see a higher version number than 1.00.0.29, so I'm just not sure ...

sorry, forgot to post what Sager told me.

After you unzip the file onto a floppy, just ...

1. right click "My Computer"

2. left click "Properties"

3. Left click "Hardware" tab

4. Left click "Device Manager"

5. Scroll down to "SCSI and Raid Controllers"

6. click the + sign to open up and then double click the "WinXP Promise SATA378 (tm) IDE Controller.

7. Go to "Driver" tab and tell windows to go find the driver in the WinXP folder on your floppy.

This update is NOT the same driver that pops up when you boot the computer

So don't be concerned that it didn't update. You can update per instructions above and then reboot and follow the process again verifying that the driver did change
