No I don't live in canada and have never hugged a tree I did not come here to start a fight. apperantly I got one though. Anyway this is my last post on this topic and i will leave you guys to chew at this.

In this corner we have a 78 yo grandma with 357mag. In the other corner we have a firearms phobic dipshit with 10yrs of aikido training. I know on whom I would place my bets.

but back to the point theiris nothing illegal about trading a firearm for a computer if yu go through your dealer

This is funny. I love how people attempt to pass THEIR law onto others.

If you are following the laws set forth by your state/local place of living along with federal laws... sure.

I think the idea though is to keep things simple. Imagine if someone died because a guy traded a laptop on notebook forums for a gun. Not likely, but im sure it is just a liablility.

But getting back to the point. PEOPLE, you are NOT a judge. IF SOMEONE wants to own a gun, that is THEIR RIGHT. Just as it their right to have 6 kids, and just how it is their right to buy an SUV that gets 15mpg to take their 6 kids to soccer practice.

These are all rights that we are lucky enough to have. Like the right of freedom of speech, so you can express how you dont like our freedoms.

I have just one input. If you want to trade any type of firearm, at least if your living in the states, you are required by law to have the trade/sale documented and approved by your local FFL approved dealer. They must handle the whole transaction; if not I don't believe what you are doing is legal. If not you may have more trouble than you can handle if something were to happen.

if the trade is done in your home state of residence, with another residence of your home state, it is legal to do so privately. I have done so many times, and it is perfectly legal. To trade a firearm across state lines, you must go through a FFL, which runs background checks etc to ensure the receiver is ok to receive the firearm.

Before spouting off about crazed lunatics getting guns etc, get a clue as to what you're talking about. A criminal is not going to get a gun legally, he can just go get some peice of crap Llama that was smuggled into the states from someplace like Mexico or CANADA!

Dillio,

Read my post very closely. I did not make any mention of a crazed lunatic getting hold of a gun. I was just stating that if you were to trade a firearm with another individual, I thought it was only legal if you went thru a person or business which was an approved FFL dealer to document the transaction. From state to state I don't know the laws and I am sure you don't either. I know in my state any firearm that is being transferred to another individual must go through an approved FFL dealer for it to be legal.

in most states, that is not the case. In states like California, New York, Massachussetts, and maybe even New Jersey this very well may be the case were the gun control laws are stricter.

and if you all pay attention you send it to a licensed dealer, its a felony to ship directly to someone. unless your in the same state acording to ATF regs, but its safer to do it with a dealer.

and you have to abide by mag restrictions but legally once you get the merchandise you ship the firearm if they fail the background check to bad cause firearm transactions are actually non returnable they deal with the dealer

Lol...civvies can't buy M4A1's.

Only AR15's. Semi-autos.

That being said, anyone have a laptop they'd trade me for a Bushmaster AR15? It's a 14.5" barrel with Izzy flash suppressor, collapsable stock, removable carry handle, bayo lug, 30 round magazine.

I'm keeping my Glock 23!!!!!! No way I'd get rid of that!

I don't get why people have to insult martial arts? I don't get why people have to talk shit about gun owners. I say defend yourself however you wish as long as it is legal.

I myself practice tang soo do and I highly doubt I could dodge a well aimed bullet, but if I get close enough to you I will disarm your weapon and f**k you up.

The post you'll never read

What if some one exchanged a firearm for a laptop and bashed some one else's head in with it ??? Is it then the fault of society for allowing merchandise too be traded ??? If not, why is any different the other way around. Shhhhhhhh, don't tell your congressmen, he my start a campaign to ban hi-cap, pistol grip assault laptops.
