I wanna know when will laptops like these will be available with a dedicated video card like the ATI x700 or atleast a good one. The Dv4000 should have a good one, it is way bigger than the dv1000.

For the DV and v2000 series, I'm going to guess never. I think these laptops sell well without something as expensive and hot as the x700. I would imagine you'd also get worse battery life. HP sells these as mainstream (i.e. not like asus) multimedia notebooks, not gaming rigs. They also already charge a hefty amount for the DV series, and if they had to increase the price by several hundred dollars because of an x700, I would imagine sales would drop drastically. Realistically, with GMA900 and 200m nowadays, a relatively small group of computer users actually need dedicated graphics. And those who do, have the smaller niche brands to choose from (acer, asus, etc).

Those models you've listed are all entry level systems.

They are unlikely to have dedicated graphics solutions in the future.

I have never understood the idea of entry level systems. Especially when you are talking about systems that are as powerfull if not more powerfull then most of the larger gaming rigs. The only difference is the video power and thats not something everyone needs.

I think its better to call then multitasking portables.

Agreed. An "entry level" should be a computer with a celeron or sempron processor, although I do believe the performance of these low end chips isn't too bad these days. Anything that's centrino/Pentium M or turion is too powerful to be entry level. And I really don't think the DV's price is entry level either!

Hey

Guess what? The DV4000 will soon get the X700!
