I plan to get a second AC Adapter for the docking station I have setup. Keeps me from having to pull the cord out from behind the desk everytime I want to bring the ACAdapter with me.

Mike thanx for the advise. I had just recieved my i6000 with no discs.(Ofcourse they included the AOL CD) When I placed my order online there was no option to purchase backup cds,so I figured they would be included But Nooooooo!
I emailed them noting the image recovery was a nice idea but if my hard drive ever fail not only would I have to replace that but I would also have to replace the OS.
It only took 1 email and they said they would ship them out asap.
I would advise anyone requesting the disc to mention the HD thing.
Thanx again

well I sent them an email and recieved one saying to contact the tech dept (umm.... no I will not jump threw hoops) so I replied to my csr with a very touching email here it is.

Hello and thank you for the speedy reply, as I understand that you are just following procedure's however the person that I bought the laptop for is upset after they found out that I spent over $1400 on their get well present and that they can't obtain the cd's without having to go through a tedious process, is there anyway possible that this can be resolved in a more pleasant manor, as I don't want to upset them any further then I already have.

Wish me luck
Lets see what happen next.

In the original post the letter says send the email containing your order number. I just bought a refurbished new machine from a seller on ebay and
I dont have an order number. I do have the service tag number showing the machine was shipped through Dell in January. Would this be enough or how do I get an order number?
Register your laptop & sent your service tag number will do.

Yay! My CD's are on it's Way!

Thanks for the post.
I just ordered my XPS M140 along with the $500 coupon last week. Now I get free Restore CD's and Dell offered to credit my credit card for $50.00.

That's Awesome!

I emailed them once, was told they don't ship CDs any more, then I emailed them again saying I wanted to repartition, and got the CDs this morning. Instead of shipping me all the CDs in one envelope, they shipped six envelopes, all with one CD in

Oh well, free CDs and free envelopes to go with them, thanks Dell

I just got the cd's today (powerdvd, sonic, xp, drivers and util's, and apps). Now the funny thing I'm reading the packing slip down and to the left does this mean we have to send them back or what.

Windows XP Product Key?

I removed all the partitions and reformatted my HD. When reinstalling the OS, Windows XP never asked for the Product Key. When I did the online update, it notices that my OS is geniune.

What happens, if I loaded this onto a desktop? Will I still be able to get the updates?

The Dell OEM CD's generally can only be installed on a Dell system.

My MCE that came with my 9300 allowed me to install it on my desktop but it required activation (which I didn't do, was just seeing how well the Media features would run on one of my older machine). I don't remember but I think it did ask for the CD code on install as well.
