What you buying laptop for anyways btacular?
Are you saying that they will finaly enable the hypermemory feature of the chipset with the Mobile Catalyst 5.8 drivers? Any link? Or how do you know this is the case?

Rawpcpower builds MSI 1029s and there in NJ so that may be a place to order with out tax. The MSI I orded came from there.

If you are so apprehensive why do you HAVE to buy from this company in the first place? There are dozens.

Mine is coming from Computer Hardware and Acc. they beat prices of both Xmeld and Rawpower. Also giving me a free gift "hopes for MSI remote"

is this directed at me?

if so the answer is simple... i can get the notebook for a price much cheaper than other places... i'm deciding if it's worth the risk considering the investment

http://www.anandtech.com/video/showdoc.aspx?i=2498 it's on the next page of this review, I'll summerize(my skills sucks btw)
A: Hypermemory = Software not Hard ware
B: 256MB + Video card +hypermemory = Decrease performance
C: 32-128MB + Video card +hypermomory = Increase performance
D: Hypermemory = Works on all X series GFX card
E: Hypermemory Ownz Turbo Cache!
F: Hypermemory Add's more Video ram(about 128MB) from your System RAM
G: Hypermemory only works on PCI-express AGP = too slow
H: 5.8 Driver Benfits
5-15% gain in 3DMark05 on some products
20-60% gain in Far Cry Regulator across multiple settings
25-60% gain in Half-Life 2 at 1600x1200 4xAA 8xAF
40-60% gain in UT2004 at 1600x1200 6xAA 16xAF
50-100% improvement in Comanche4 at 1600x1200 6xAA 16xAF
50-200% gain in certain ShaderMark tests at high resolution
I: You can NOT turn off Hypermemory (so far but if you can crack it then do it lol)
J: Hypermemory is best on the 128MB X200,X300,X600,X700
K: Hypermemory is worst on 128MB+ X600 X700 X800 X850 and all that

I hope this helps out

I would like to see someone test this out on the TravelMate 4402WLMi (X700 64MB) and also the Ferrari 4005WLMi (128MB X700). It would be interesting to see the results on a 64MB card!
