mainly considering toshiba....want for gaming and also for university...going to uk to study for a year

mainly confused between m40 and tecra s2....price is the same Rs. 80000
and configuration is similar

tecra s2
1.73 ghz
512 mb ddr ram
dvd/cdrw combo
60 gb
3 year international warrenty
geforce 6600 64 mb
xp pro
15 inch ...no widesceen

m40
1.86 ghz
512mb ddr
dvd/cdrw
60 gb
1 year international warrenty
geforce 6600 128 mb
xp pro
15.4 inch widescreen

advantage of tecra is that the optical drive can be removed and replaced with dvd burner or hard disk or extra battery if and when i need
i think battery life is also better...also 3 yrs international warrenty....but it has 1.73 compared to 1.86 and also 128 mb graphics card on the m40
but i prefer the looks of m40...the widescreen..not too sure if widescreen is better or not

i've heard the tecra series is better.....how much of performance diff b/w 64 and 128 mb graphics card...
so overall which 1 of the two u wud recommend considering the pros and cons...have to decide by monday...so plzzz let me know!!

Personally, if you want to game, I would go with the m40. Of course, Toshiba would not be my first choice, but in this situation, Dell and most other companies just don't offer the features you want for about the same price as Toshiba. RS. 80000, how much is that in USD? The conversion rate is still something like 45-50 to 1 USD, right? If so, I guess it's between $1600 and $1775 or something, which doesn't sound too bad for that. The Dell would probably not be any cheaper for you, as you don't qualify for the coupons from the US.

yup...that the exchange rate...45 or something....i did lots research and asking ont he forums.....no other laptop was giving a similar graphics card...now wanna know if the diff in performance b/w 64 mb and 128 mb is so much that i can compromise on on the 3yrs warranty and the detachable drive....i dont wantt he absolute best graphics....just wanna play all the games possible on decent settings...even medium will do

What kind of games do you play?

I've thought about it, and if I were going to buy a Toshiba, I would rather have an extended warranty over a good graphics card.

if u can check if the 64mb 6600 uses that nvidia turbocache or whatever, if it does it should be fine since it uses system ram to help out the 64mb of vram. ur best bet in my opinion is to get an acer or an asus as they have international warranties and u can better equip one for the same price.
