I recently sent a email to Sager Tech support about this problem and I got no response after one week. So I am posting here in the hopes of getting help.
Here is the email:
Hi,
I was watching movie on my Sager 9860 and all of a
sudden the picture just froze, it did not recover so
I did a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and stopped the task. Then
when I tried to restart the DVD, it would not work.
I rebooted the computer and tried again, still
nothing. I tried some games, an audio cd, and other
DVD's: nothing seemed to work.
The tray opens and closes fine and windows does not
detect any problems with the cd drive (device is
working properly, it says).
When I enter a disk into the tray and close it, the
indicator light goes on for a few seconds and then
stops, I don't hear or see anything after that. It
seems like it is not even reading the disk.
I have a 1-year warranty and one year shipping prepaid
to Sager. If somthing you suggest can fix this problem
without me having to send my laptop in that would be
great.
But if I have to send it in, I would like to know the
procedure becasue I have never done this before.
I would also like to know what the procedure is if you
send the parts to me and I replace it myself:
1) Will someone instruct me on how to replace them? If
not over the phone then something in writing?
2) When I send back the old defective parts, will that
be covered under my 1 Year shipping to Sager?
