By the way, I didn't know that UPS or FedEx deliver on the weekends. Strange.
yours arrived on a saturday?? i was under the impression fedex is closed over the weekend

and here i've been expecting to get it monday even though it's projected to arrive today

HMMMMMMMMM...maybe i'll have to give the DC depot a call to see if they have any presents waiting for me

i've been lurking so i wanted my first post here to be my z70va review but when i saw this thread i completely caved, this is the thread i've been waiting for

OMG!!! I just got mine too. Holy crap! I just woke up from a nap, and there it was on my doorstep!!!

This is better than any Christmas morning! No idea how ISTNC got them here so fast, or without letting us know they were out of customs. But I really don't care. OMG, I nearly shat myself when I saw it.

Review and pics coming soon. But I can tell you a few things now.

1. NO DEAD OR STUCK PIXELS!!
2. No DVI Port
3. Bluetooth is definitely on it
4. There is defintely a 128MB ATI X700 in it, so it is a refresh
5. I almost fainted when I saw it.

I know what I'll be spending my day doing. And it got here before school started. <3 ISTNC

Yeah, I was surprised to get it on a Saturday. It was FedEx'd.

Initial, out-of-the-box impressions:
1) Packaged nicely. And I wasn't expecting the Asus luggage tag =)
2) What a beautiful laptop. JPG's don't do it justice.
3) It was a little heavier, but at the same time sleeker, than I expected. It's easy to pick up and manipulate with one hand.
4) The screen is incredible!

I've got xpsp2 installed, working on drivers from the supplied CD now. There are a lot of them...I haven't installed a non-AMD, non-nforce-or-via system in a long time, I'm used to unified drivers. I'm going to install everything on the CD, and then uninstall stuff later if I don't think it's necessary. Once I have that all installed and working, I'll run 3dmark05 and post the scores.

Any setup tips for me? Any benchmarks you guys want to see?

RFS - I thought everything on that driver CD was already installed. Should I put that in and intstall drivers from it? I thought it was just backup.

On my Z71v, IST installed everything from the get go. I'd guess the same is true of your computer. Your name should even be in Windows

Heh, ya I noticed that. Personal touch never hurts.

BTW, I'm now typing from my new Asus Z70VA, with an MX518 hooked up.

rfs/Striker-

what does your fedex tracking info say? mine says that last night my package "departed fedex location at 7:36 pm enroute to final destination in zip code XXXXX"...the fedex location is about 40mi from the final destination so i thought maybe it arrived there last night. (shipping address is not my home address). called their customer support to figure out where it is, if i can go pick it up, but they were entirely useless, didn't know any more than i already do.

I didn't get Windows preinstalled, as I had an unused copy of XP w/SP2.

I never got any kind of shipment notification by email, so I never had a tracking number. It just showed up =).

Argh! That means I've got two options...drive down to the office and see if I've got a package (and risk wasting my time) or wait and see on Monday....argh!!

I'd look at it this way. Go down to the depot and pick up your notebook (if it in fact arrived) or risk having a boring Sunday wishing you had checked.
