It came in the mail today from ncix. Only place i could find that shipped to the U.S. The laptop is great. Im typing this on it now. The screen is nice and glossy. If anyone wants to know anything about it, let me know. Im not planning on a review since its really the same as the 4005. Maybe i'll do one if i get time.

If your wondering what i paid, I got it fo $1504 U.S. shipped. Sound like a good deal?

That is great with a place that shipps to the US. Let us know what the GPU stock clockes are, mem and core. Also if you could run 3DMark03/05 that would be great!!!

congratz paniro! i own a ferrari 4002wlmi myself too. To ramificato, the GPU stock clocks are as follow: core-358, mem-331. I ran 3DMark03 and 05 on it.

3DMark03 : 5136
3DMark05 : 2052

i'm using Omega drivers to overclock my gpu to core:400 and mem:350 and ran 3DMark03/05. I got 5686 and 2252 respectively. To me it's a decent gaming machine.

paniro, are your benchmarks similar to imannudein's? if I remember the 4002's specs.. that's not that bad a difference in power compared to the save of $650 in some cases

I think I read somewhere that the 4002WLMi will be released on the US market August 29.

Yes, my benchmarks were very very similar. Here they are:

3dmark03 - 5131

3dmark05 - 2057

What are your thought on the screen? Compared to a normal notebook screen?

The screen IMO is much better than a regular matte screen. Everything is so much more life like and the colors are very vibrant. I always wanted a glossy screen and didnt plan on buying a notebook w/out. I can live with the reflections which arent that bad and that you dont notice after a while. I think the screen is great. Its not overly 'glossy' like the sony screens which look like someone wiped vaseline on the screen lol.

Just wanted to ask, does the Ferrari 4002 has DVI out?
Yes, the Ferrari 4000 series all have DVI out, just as the 8100 series all have DVI out.

-James

PS- For those 3dmark05 scores, are you using the latest mobility catalyst 5.8 drivers?

Those scores are from the 4002 out the box.

I'm a little confused: what are the differences between a Ferrari 4002 and a Ferrari 4005? Or are they the same? Why does the Acer website only show Ferrari 4000?

EDIT: I found the ncix website and want to confirm - 4002 is basically a lesser spec'd out version of the 4005? I see that it has 1.6GHz, 80GB HD, and 512RAM.

Are are there other versions of the Ferrari such as 4003 and 4004 as well?
Acer, Dont have 4003 and 4004. And 4002 is lesser spec'd version and there is no comparison of both. Due to more RAM, processor speed 4005 is much better.

go to the Acer Canada website......they have the specs for the 4002 there I'm still deciding as to which Ferrari to get. I would love to get the 4005, but the 4002 has the crystalbrite/glossy screen, which is kinda nice.

Héhé,

congrat, you just bought a perfect laptop

I just bought mine at 1780 $ Canadian +tax.

The screen with Crystalbright is so nice too

-> Don't use the Amd driver from Acer website. I got somes bugs with multitasking. Seem frequence control problem. I just dont use any amd driver now and its ok.
