Acer 8100 - Where to buy?

This question is directed at people who have purchased an Acer laptop, had something go wrong with it and have had to deal with the customer service department at the place of purchase. I want to know:

Who did you purchase it from?
What model did you purchase?
When did you purchase the laptop?
When did things go wrong?
How much time passed before the issue was resolved?

IMO, sites like http://www.resellerratings.com don't tell you much unless you look at all the negative comments. Nowadays, just about any vendor can resell a notebook. What I want to know is: Which reseller has the best post-sales support?

NewEGG is my way...

Hi.
Check out http://www.newegg.com. You can`t go wrong buying there. Read some reviews and the rest of my comment here. Never bought a laptop there but have custom build desktop at home and it took some hustle. My best experience is ( doesn`t have to seem like it is suppose to be but it turned that way ) with the corsair memory modules...I ordered them along with bunch of other parts and they did not ship it. The order list contained it though. I called and in five minuts the merchandise were on it`s way with free shipping. And bad fan? chi...Nothing to worry about as far as you know...
BECAUSE ONCE YOU KNOW YOU`RE NEWEGG...

Good luck, partner

I've dealt with newegg myself for PC components and I can't say I've had any negative experiences, but a lot of places have exceptions in their returns policy specifically for notebooks. neweggs return policy isn't particularly clear in this area. For example: the product page for the Acer 8103 says "This item is warranted through the product manufacturer only.", but thats the case for almost every item they sell. What does it mean in the notebooks case?

Having called several places today, I'm convinced that post sales support is a non-issue when purchasing an Acer notebook. Many on line vendors either 1) Don't deal with Acer directly anyway or 2) Acers policy dictates that the reseller should not accept returns / refunds for any reason, but instead send the customer to Acer itself for support.

That being said, I ended up purchasing from www.provantage.com. Though if anyone is curious I called newegg.com, mwave.com and pcconnection.com and they all said the essentially the same thing: No refunds are given after the sale and any support issues are handled by Acer, not the reseller.
