I have checked the bios which is unfortunately pretty bare and offers no help.
Unless I'm very much mistaken, there is no hard-wired action associated with the lid switch, and everything is done in software. Shutting the lid does nothing for me. It could be, though, that the lid switch is broken, but I'm not sure of an easy way to test this as I do not have Windows installed on my machine.
If someone knows for a fact that the LCD backlight will shut off through a HARDWARE based process when the lid switch it tripped, could you let me know? This could probably be tested by booting into a pure dos mode or perhaps even a Windows install environment. It would at least let me know if there is a problem with my lid switch...
