You're still going to uninstall it after 90% of the replies have told you not to? Registry cleaning apps just don't work...at least not the same as a reinstallation of your OS.
I would recommend this: disable Norton AntiVirus, don't uninstall it. It's better to have unused files and registry keys for a disabled program than for an uninstalled program.
Open NAV and disable auto-protect through it's options panel. Since this certainly won't disable everything in one shot, you will need to manually disable any related startup applications via the statup folder (
Start > Programs > Startup) and through MSCONFIG (
Start > Run > type "msconfig" (sans quotes)
> click the "Startup" tab).
If you need any help figuring out what you should and shouldn't disable, feel free to ask here or go to
ProcessLibrary.com, an excellent resource for identifying what origin, purpose, description and more about most any given process.
Also remove the NAV icon(s) from your desktop.
