Any z70v owners regret not waiting for the refresh model?

For those who knew about the upcoming z70va model but went ahead and bought the z70v model instead because you do not want to wait, don't you regret now?

Well, I haven't purchased either z70v yet, though I'm considering getting the refresh some time soon. But in general, there's no reason to regret an original z70v purchase. There's always something new and better coming down the pipe in the computer world. You can't always wait for the next big thing, and especially with the deliveries being pushed back until well into the school year, I can understand why many people decided not to wait.

I don't particularly regret it. I've had three weeks of a laptop that actually does what I need it to do, when I could have waited three weeks for two features I don't particularly need. Yeah, the x700 would be nice, as would internal bluetooth, but they weren't worth putting this purchase off any longer, especially given that the alternative was using the VAIO instead.

Not really, after initially getting the laptop i ran the standard benchmarks and was sort of shaken that I could have had x number more points with a refresh model, I stopped really caring.

Considering the huge performance scale a computer can exist on, the 2 models are very close to each other relative to the difference of all the other computers out there.
Hell, the difference is about as much as the difference between getting a chip that overclocks really well compared to getting a chip that doesn't overclock at all. I didn't get hung up on the fact that in 2001 my P4 2.4 only overclocked to 2.5, while my buddy got his to 3.4.

Simple answer-No.
And I didn't have to put much thought into it, because when is the Z70va arriving? mid september.
It was much later than when I actually needed one. Time was a determining factor for me. I think these things happen for a reason, and this way I did save a bit of money buy purchasing the Z70V. I rarely use Bt and I am happy with the X600.

Actually a lot of people already have the z70va, but I agree. If you don't need the bluetooth or the x700, than there is no point in spending more money for the z70va.

Nope, I could've waited for the Z70VA but decided to go with the Z70V ... cheaper and I don't need bluetooth or the faster video card atm.

I'm happy with my decision. I prefer the 6600go over the X700 due to nvidia's better support for linux drivers - ATI is making an effort, howeve they really aren't where I need them to be yet.

I just bought the Z70v. Personally, the refresh wasnt worth the extra $$ to me. The x600 is probably more video card than I need, let alone the x700. Bluetooth is cool and all, but Ill never use it and if I ever do, I have a dongle. Id rather spend the extra $$ on RAM or booze.

I ordered the z70v from ISTNC. Did anyone get a centrino sticker? Because I didn't, only a pentium m and ati sticker.

Did you get Intel wireless?

I got my Z70v from Discount Laptops, and I am totally satisfied with my purchase, and regret-free. I guess it would be cool to be able to get 2300 3dmarks instead of 1100, and have internal bluetooth as well, I probably wouldnt use bluetooth at all, and not use the x700 frequently as my favorite games are non-demanding and are handled perfectly well by the x600. Plus, the refresh will not be here (for the masses, not just the relative handful who got the ISTNC preorder) until weeks after I'd need it for the start of college.

Actually, Chrono, you CAN get close to 2200 benchmarks. Overclock it! I've seen it done before...

Nope, no centrino sticker (ordered mine as a barebones if that matters) but I did get a Pentium M sticker with my chip.

Redmumba, I only heard about people overclocking the x600 to maybe 1600 3dmarks. But it really isnt worth it to me; the most graphics intensive game I play on my Z70v is Command and Conquer: Generals, which I played on high settings, and experienced no lag/stuttering. I might try doom 3 eventually, and I'll be fine with medium settings.

The highest I've seen on Futuremark's database is 2200. 8) Its pretty nice... of course, the GPU might've melted as soon as that got posted, for all I know. I was able to play Doom on medium/high settings on my desktop, and this only gets 1700 or so on 3DMark05. So 1600 should be fine.
