laptop crashing

Thread Starter
hi,
my hp packard has been crashing and freezing. when windows runs. the harddrive is always being read and occasionally makes a clicking noise. i tried to reformat and reinstall windows but always get the blue screen of death with the message kernel data inpage error. now i'm pretty sure it's a hard drive failure, but just want to get some insight and make sure it's not a problem with one of the RAM chips. Any ideas?

Go here and check that out. It's a fairly easy program to use. It'll ask for a floppy to install itself on, reboot machine, and it'll ask for a few parameters to run in.

Go through a couple tests and you'll know if it's your ram or not. If the hard drive clicking is loud, and you've tried reformatting to no avail, it's probably your hd.

Good luck.
