My 64 MB X300 3DMarks05 Score

I just ran 3DMarks05 on my 64 mb x300 card overclocked at 415/310. i got 1203 . i ran at all default settings except resolution, which i changed to 800 x 600. i got just under 700 when i ran it at 1024 x 768. is this good for this card? i've heard of people getting over 1800 with the 128 mb x300 card.

Well, if you want to compare it to other benchmarks, you'll probably have to run it at its default configuration, which is with 1024x768. Since the free version doesn't allow you to change the resolution (does it?), all benchmarks are pretty much assumed to have a resolution of 1024x768. Just a heads up, to avoid confusion. Nice background, by the way... from what I can see of it. O:-)

yeah, thats the family guy chicken fight

when i try it on 1024x768, i end up getting around 700, but i guess the benchmarks don't matter as long as hl2 plays fine when i get it on thursday

how do you know when to stop overclocking the X300. Did you use Centrino Hardware Control, cuz if you did, did it tell you when youve overclocked it too much?

i used some thing that came with my omega drivers, its part of the ati tray tools, under hardware. it increases the speed of the memory/core until it detects a problem. then i just OC it at about 10-15 mhz below the 'problem speed'

ATi Tool.

Cool. Does that put your X300 64MB in line with the X600 mobility?

When it begins to smoke.

Yah, you cant really use the 800x600 score, use the default 1024x768

You can score pretty high if you have your shit set up right

700 is still good though, half-life will play okay, wont look amazing, but I play on my laptop, works fine.

Oh... it was at 800x600.... What does the X600 get @ default, btw?
I believe it gets around 1100 or so, but it'll vary from laptop to laptop. Plus, overclocking will add about a thousand points to that...
... so you're saying that overclocking can DOUBLE an X600's 3DMark05 score? I dunno about that... that would put it just barely under the 3DMark05 score of an X700 mobility or a 6600 Go.

budacris20, slightly off-topic here - I assume that you are not using your laptop "in the field", and battery life is not important to you at all ? Only that would explain something that shocks me in your screenshot ;->

constant, i don't often use the battery life. i got the laptop instead of a desktop because i'm going to college and want one that i can take home on the weekends and maybe around campus some. but i don't get what shocks you about the screenshot, could you elaborate?

definitely update the drivers, I'm getting scores in the upper 900's at 1024x768 and I am running at stock speeds :-). Enjoy!

It sounds a bit low to me. I have a latitude d610.

I get these results with a stock card:

2 GHZ centrino 533 Mhz FSB, 1GB RAM. Omega drivers, stock ati x300 64 MB ram (297,216) : 976 3dmarks (all default settings, 1024x768)

and overclocked:

2 GHZ centrino 533 Mhz FSB, 1GB RAM. Omega drivers, ati x300 overclocked (375,250) : 1150 3dmarks (all default settings, 1024x768)

I jsut ran 3dmark05 with the new Omega drivers and gto a score of 998 with stock settings. :-)
That's better than my 70 3dMarks of my ATI320M.

Tried 3dmark just for kicks, I got 867 3dmarks using Dell drivers and no overclocking. I'm afraid to OC at all with this laptop, and besides I really don't think a score of upper 900's will give me a noticeable increase in performance.

i got just a bit over 2000 on a 128 mb ati x300 overclocked
