8890 fans NOT running

I just had a scary thing happen: I turned on my 8890 for the first time today and opened a couple web pages. Everything is fine I'm checking email then all of a sudden all the new text I see when I scroll is just crazy lines and stuff. I'm thinking wtf then I realize it reminds me of the time I tried to overclock my ti4600 and went too far. I put my hand next to the fan outlet and no air was blowing out at all. I just held down the power button to shut it off asap and now that I started it again they are running just like normal. This ever happen to anyone else? What would make the fans not start like that?

Maybe it was cold from being out overnight... the cooling system didn't need the fans for the first few minutes until things were warmed up.

Was the case cold to the touch when you first turned it on? That's my guess.

Yeah I keep the heat down low in here at night so it was cool. Assuming that the messed up text it was drawing was from over-heating the processor or more likely the GPU though it had to of been hot inside. Maybe there isn't a sensor near the GPU? It seems fine now, been using it a couple hours, even playing games a bit.

I've noticed the crazy lines thing whenever I minimize a directx program and try to scroll. It's odd, it may be a driver issue. I'm still using the original non-whql drivers from the cd.
