new samsung x50, 2,13 ghz, x700 128 mb and sata

just wanted to let all of you samsung fans out there know that samsung relaesed a new version of the x50 in germany.
it offers higher cpu speed (if only 0,13 ghz faster), the x700 in stead of the x600 (of cause with 128 mb memory) and serial ata instead of parallel.
i guess the only real improvement is the x700 - at least as far as performance is concerned. and maybe the 2,13 ghz version can now keep up with the fast 2 ghz laptops out there.
anyway - it's only a little more expensive than the 2 ghz version - so worth considering. but germany is the only country it is available by now.
samsung germany link

Gernot, is there an e-tailer in Germany that would ship to the USA. Its probably horrendously expensive but I would like to get a ballpark figure if possible.
I've heard its 3999 Euros, which is..uh....$4500 USD?
damn!, its so sexy though, I wish I could afford it.
That is brutally expensive! Samsungs look SO nice, but cost SO much too. Aside from those manufacturer contracts, etc that explain why Samsung doesn't sell in North America, I can see cost as a second reason. People in Asia and I guess Europe as well are willing to spend a lot on nice electronics, if they can afford it. I think here in North America, there would be a very small portion of the population who would buy one of these, even if more could afford it. There just isn't the demand for ultra premium electronics (look at cell phones in asia or europe), and arguably, when you have something as cheap as a dell that works more or less the same way, there isn't much point to pay twice as much.

true, but that Samsung is something else dude. Its a 15.4 sxga+, with finger scanning biometric input and an X700 128mb card all in a package thats 5.2lbs.

5.2 friggin lbs!!!!!!!!

I need to sit down, breathe, relax. Ok, everything's cool. Laptops aren't everything, need to keep reminding myself......
Yeah I know what you mean, samsungs are really something else. The weight is impressive, that's even better than the 5.5lbs that the Asus V6V accomplished. The ultimate combo would be to have a samsung X50 for power and samsung Q30 for portability. Both look so good... WOW...

Nope.. $4900 usd...
Even for what you get... $4900 is just outrageously expensive! Honestly, for that amount, you can buy the same laptop that's a pound lighter, and just hire the metrosexual Apple people to carry it around for you...

EDIT: Just to let you know, that Apple comment wasn't meant to be offensive; in fact, the whole thing about the people working at Apple being metrosexual came from my two friends who have literally convinced every single one of their friends to get a laptop. Sorry if it sounded bad!

I + rep you for 1 rep point! huzzah~!

There are two x50's, the x600 is 1999 Euros while the x700 is 3999 euros.

That's a friggin $2700 USD difference for 1.7 -> 2.13, x600 ->x700, WXGA -> WSXGA, and some minor things...

PS/2
6-pin firewire
DVI
and Serial!

edit: oops, nm that's the docking station.. hmm

the new version of the x50 is 3400 euro here. you'll get the 1,73 ghz version with the x700 vor bit more than 2000 euro - which is quite fair i think.
studio 54 - i don't know if any of the german resellers are willing to ship to the stats, at least there will be some tax issues... but i am sure the notebooks turns up on e-bay anytime soon.
cheers

They have the X50 but with te X600 not X700 and it is very expensive

Voodoo like expensive about $4,000 with 2GB memory on the older X600 model no
telling what the newer X700 model will be.

For $4000, I would get a Ferrari and the New Sceptre 37" 1920x1080 LCD at Costco ;-)
But the ferrari weighs a pound more.. and I think samsungs are tops for looks! You're obviously not getting the best deal by buying an X50.

for 4900usd you can pick up a
+z70va with 2.26ghz PM 2gb of ram
+paint job to look better than the x50
+personal weight trainer for a month, get you extra 5 pounds of muscle without much work(probally less than 500 bux)

and that 6pound z70va will feel like its 5 pounds
post #20 of 26
or you can get a dell xps2 (2.4k) + asus w5a (1.7k) and you really have something better than the x50
