I received my i9300 today. I have the true life screen and the 6800. I set the desktop to none which shows just a solid blue background. Since doing that I have noticed a dark spot about 2in wide that runs from the top of the screen to the bottom right around the L on dell. If you look from an angle or move away from the screen it is really noticeable. With an image on the screen it difficult to spot, but again very noticeable on a solid dark blue background. Something doesn't seem right, please tell me this is not normal or am I being to picky or do I have a valid complaint that I should exchange it? I checked the registry and I have a samsung...

1) Return it and get a new one. If you got it on a really good deal that you can't find anymore, I think you can request a free "replacement" system before your 21 days are up (30 days in Canada). The original HAS to go back, though, whether or not the replacement unit is better or worse.
or 2) Tell them that you're planning on returning it, but are willing to live with it if they give you a good enough concession deal (e.g. free $100 coupon or more)
... well, I guess those are pretty much your only options. You might be able to get a concession even if you get a replacement system, I guess. Maybe make them give you free overnight shipping or something.

Not exactly sure what you mean by what model, but it is an inspiron 9300 with the geforce 6800. As far as the screen in the registry the folder name for the display is sec5557, which from what I have read indicates it is a samsung display? Resolution is at the max 1920 x 1200. It is there even if I change the resolution.
I did call tech support last night, they had me go through unplugging the display from the board and reseating it but it is still there. So they said they would exchange it, but I have to call back because that dept was closed. Should I wait a day or two?
How long did it take for yours to go away? This is a pretty nasty looking shadow that runs the length of the screen.
Well, after being on the phone over an hour and being transferred all over the place, I am sending it in for them to replace the lcd. They did give me several options...
I asked if they would send me an lcd, but said if something happened when I was replacing it the warranty would be voided. If I sent it in for an exchange there would not be any gurantee it would be a new replacement, didn't want to do that. My other option was to return it, but I got 40% off and the coupon is expired so I would have to wait to buy another.
How hard is the lcd replacement? Last night they had me go through reseating the display cable, so I can't think there is much else to do. I don't mind sending it in, but I am worried they won't think it is a problem and won't replace it if I send it in? Should i call back and ask them to send me the lcd screen instead?
