I ordered my Quanta MW1 today--my 1st new laptop--from PowerNotebooks.com. Donald, the owner, was great to deal with on the phone and gave me a 30-day no-defective-pixel guarantee, as5, and upgraded repair shipping for free. I had seen him offer the pixel guarantee on a post, but I wasn't expecting the as5 or shipping bump! This is the configuration I ordered:
P-M 1.86
1 gig RAM on 1 stick
80 gig Toshiba 5400rpm
dual-layer DVD burner
Intel 2915 abg wireless
$1515.15
If you aren't familiar with this new model, it's the new 15" 4:3 screen notebook from Quanta with the Go6600 128mb MXM videocard. You can find the full specs at http://www.powernotebooks.com/specs/PowerPro/g3-11.php.
I might have chosen its widescreen counterpart, the HW1, but it isn't out yet, and I think I will benefit from the 12.9" width and the slightly smaller pixels of its 1400x1050 resolution vs. the widescreen's 1680x1050. Also, perhaps due in part to its narrow width, it only weighs 6.1 lbs with battery, although I don't know if this is with or without the DVD drive.
Just last week, before this was put on PowerNotebook.com, I was debating between the Quanta KN1-PM and the MSI 1032, after trying the Asus Z71V (the screen sparkles really bugged my eyes out) and the Asus Z70V (I got a subpar screen, didn't like the X600 video, and it was pretty expensive for the performance). Granted, the Z70V is better looking than any of these, has the carbon composite chassis, and its refresh with X700 is now out (but not really, if you want it shipped anytime soon and you didn't preorder like a month ago). But I finally decided against the high res widescreen, couldn't wait for the refresh, and wondered how underclocked the X700 would be and if it would suffer from heat or noise issues. I briefly looked at the Acer 16XX, 44XX, and 8103, but you only get 1yr warranty on those or pay through the nose for an extended, and some people think Acer build quality is lacking. I might have already ordered the KN1-PM or MSI 1032, but I don't really like the look or layout of either. Since this is brand new, and I haven't found any user reviews yet, there are some unknowns, like keyboard feel and battery life, but I'm getting impatient and the suspense is kind of exciting.
I should get it next week, and I plan on giving a thorough review with pics. If there is something in particular you want to know or see, let me know and I'll include it in the review.

It's cool that there are more people getting/interested in this model and that they're sharing, because when I was first interested in the KN1 I was only able to find like one review. Yay for community!
