nx6125 vs nx8220 .......

Perhaps a slightly unfair comparison. But my need is for a .net development machine which will be often connected to an external monitor. I am a little worried about the wide screen resolution of the 8220 and the increased size. Hence the reason for looking at the 15" 6125. Also the 6125 uses the 64bit chip which may be useful in the longer term. But I must confess that my chosen 8220 has a 2.13ghz Pentium M which may significantly beat the 6125's Turion. I would put 1GB RAM in both machines.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Sam

I think Intel Pentium M is still unbeaten. Turion is good, but not as good as P-M.

Unbeaten in what? I few more minutes of battery life? I would go for a 64-bit notebook especially for software development! It will be an edge to be able to develop in 64-bit which is becoming mainstream and where the future is at. Also the performance is dependent up on application used. The Turion 64 has very good performance due to integrated memory controller an lacks no features, unlike the PM which has a bunch of missing features, it's 32 bit only, lacks SSE3 instructions, NX (no execution) instructions etc... I would say the PM has had it's run, only if battery life is critical PM is a valid choice, seeing how things are going 64-bit. Just my opinion.

Unbeated as far as BTU's, SO it will compile things faster... Its battery life is also nice but... 64bit is nice but not something that will be used in .net for a very long time... Right now i would go with the PM... but thats must my 2 cents...
