Ordering today and need some advise. This laptop will be used for everyday tasks, video and image editing.

1.60 and 60GB 7200rpm HD
or
2.0 and 80GB 5400rpm HD (about $100 more)

I would wait a few weeks for another coupon to come out.......

80GB 5400 or even 100GB 5400 would be nice.

I agere. As a side note, the 60gb has less data density, but a faster speed. On the other hand, the 80gb has more data density and a slower speed. Overall, you'd probably receive almost similar results. A 100gb 5400 drive would be the same performance as the 60gb 7200, and it'd cost less...

I don't think the 80GB/100GB 5400 RPM drives are that much faster than the 60GB 5400 RPM drive. I think the 7200 RPM difference would make more of a difference.

Like I said, benchmarks prove otherwise. Somebody did a test in this very forum, if you can find it. It makes sense, too...

Here's the benches
The 100GB is slower at accessing and sending data quickly, but it can push more data over an extended period (large file transfers, etc.) than the 60GB 7200RPM. Personally I'd get an 80GB drive and the 2.0. Or heck, you could even get the 1.86, there's not much of a difference between the two if you're on a budget.
