Please help me in deciding to buy the R4000.

Thread Starter
This is a great forum with tons of information and I'm glad to be here. I am looking to purchase a new laptop but do not want to spend more than I have to and that's where I need your help.
I need the laptop primarily for programming functions i.e. C++, Java, VB.Net, etc. I am not a gamer and am looking for a decent laptop which will let me do programming without problems.
I have purchased this laptop which can be returned if I find a better deal or a better solution. I also purchased this as I got an "on the spot" deal which I thought made sense at the time. Anyway the specs are as follows;

Compaq R4125US
CPU: AMD Athlon 3500+
Memory: 512MB (256 X 2)
HD: 100GB (4200 rpm)
Video: ATI Radeon Express 200M (128MB Dedicated)
15.4" High Def Brightview screen, etc.

I got this for $1135 including taxes and there is a $180 rebate so the final price is $955.
I definitely need Win XP Pro and the above laptop comes with XP home but I think I can load XP Pro on a XP home machine.
Is this going to be OK for what my needs are or will this be an overkill. Someone suggested I could buy a laptop with a AMD 3000+ Sempron processor and save some money and that the above laptop would be overkill for my needs. Help me out please.

Stop by and give it a ::BUMP:: so we can get some answers!

Where did you purchase yours from? The cheapest I've been able to find is $1049 with a $30 rebate from BUY.com - you got it about $80 cheaper! Good buy! Thanks.
