XPS 2 showed up :(!!!

Well my XPS 2 showed up...I eagerly opened the box and to my utter shock there are three very ugly scratches on the casing! HOW COULD THIS BE? I called Dell and after over 1 hour on the phone complaining they gave me a coupon and are replacing the unit. Gee thanks...but I still have to wait for a new laptop.

I purchased the unit new and not refurb'd..so I am not sure how this case made it out of QC. I have not even turned it on..and I assume it works fine...but this is definitely not what I paid for. Any one else had this experience?

Dude, I got mine yesterday and thought the same thing. The scratches are on the protective plastic covering. Peel it back to reveal a perfect cover.

yeah ive read about alot of people thinking they had scratches, but it was only the plastic covering. May people couldnt even see it after smeone told them, they just had to look hard.

lol. atleast he got a coupon out of it...too bad they may think your silly for not noticing it.

Think of all the returns and customer service calls Dell could avoid if they simply put a small sticker titled "Peel Here" on the corner of the plastic covering. I'm actually surprised it is not listed as one of their customer service scripted responses to reports of a new laptop with a scratched cover.

wow man...after 1 hour on the phone you would think someone could have suggested that!! Just called to cancel my replacement...absolutely silly...

LAWL.

Don't worry, everyone falls for it. I just left my plastic cover on to make it look scratched up so I don't worry about it getting scratched.

Come on man... you got to be smarter than that.

dude, you buy a uber expensive piece of technology, yet do not take the time to thoroughly look over it. It's hard to see it, but damn dude, if you looked relatively closely, it is obvious.

seriously the plastic is on so good...I could not even imagine this would be the case....but I am so glad it is...cause now I can get on with re-installing XP...

Your certainly not the first to do that nor will you be the last. I think the "peel here" idea is the best.

Are they sending you a replacement plastic peel?

at least you are honest

If you would have looked at the DELL LOGO you would have seen the plastic INSTANTLY....

Yea, thats what gave it away for me.

Still, a piece of saran wrap protects the lappy nice, GLAD brand seems to stick better though....

Ah, yes - the ole Plastic foolery strikes once more. Glad to see that it was only the plastic and not the actual system!
