If under 100, move on.
See thread in the off-topic section, and related articles about obesity and computing. Maybe notebooks users are slimmer as they (sometimes) have to cary it.

Next planned poll:
Girlfriend/boyfriend and notebook

DOn't know pounds & ounces, they don't even use that weighing system in the UK anymore and that's where it came from. Metric, when will the US go metric?
lbs = KG * 2.2

I am 230, but I am 6'6". I would not say laptops are linked to obesity.
i am in the 170s somewhere but i am 6'1" or somewhere around there. so i am not really *fat*

280, but im 4'10...so im not reall fat either...guess there isnt a link

I think obesity would be more closely related to playing video games a lot than to just owning a notebook. But even that there probably isn't that huge of a connection.

Sure, but a laptop is in a way linked to all that, games, entertainement, computing, heavywebsurfing and so on. Just wanted to break the myth and see the reality.
I am not sure if we would have the same result in a desktop forum.

I was a fat ass before I got my first laptop and I'll be one when I get my last one... no relationship. If anything having a lappy should help you, you can take it places rather than sit at home.

i didn't think yoda weighed that much!

Im 6 foot 2 and 240lbs, not fat. I use my notebook all the time! Though there is probably an average link with obesity and computers, just not substantial enough, and probably not enough to single out notebooks.
I would say that Obesity and Desktops are linked, but not really notebooks. Notebooks are meant to get up and move (compared to desktop computers), so the "overweight link" would be lower, I think, with notebooks. Capish?

BTW, 120.

Coming from a resident in traning, obesity is linked to many things. I used to be obese my self until 10 years ago, while I was developing Heart disease at a very young age. I tipped the scale at 280 punds at 5'1 at a young age which was extremly unhealthy. I went on the Atkins about 10 years ago and I have went down to 180lbs and I am 5'11. Not bad for all that weight i lost and now i am traning to be a Cardiologist. I have sticked to the low carb lifestyle for over 10 years and have reversed heart disease and diabetes. If it wasnt for atkins i would not be here today posting this in the noetbookforums.

Back to the topic, I dont think desktops and laptops are to blame for obesity as it is a choice to own something. I own like 10 computers or more That doesnt keep me from doing my daily activities. I still go to the gym and work out 3 times a week and hang out with my Girl Friend. What causes obesity is the rise in carbohydrates and less activity. People on Low fat High Carb diets will witness heath problems in the longterm affect. The truth of it all No diet has been proven safe for long term use except the atkins. No one has a bit of solid evidence to see that it is dangerous diet. Also keep in mind Cholestrol is no an important indicator in heart disease or Heart attacks. Triglycerides and LdL fractionation are the key in detecting Heart disease or Heart attacks.

I think i overdid it a little bit

I'm 6'1" and 170lbs. I think the poll would have been more enlightening if the choices were ranges based on height/weight ratio; weight by itself doesn't tell anything.

dont forget muscle mass; a person can be 5'8 weighing 200 pounds of muscle and if you didnt know that you might think the person is obese. Having more muscle in you body is healtheir and promotes good long term health. That is why the BMI system is correput, same with many fields in the medical industry.

Yep, the most effective way is to use BMI.
