How many of you got CompleteCare Accidental Damage with your Inspiron?

I'm trying to figure out if the extra $91 is worth the added protection or not on an XPS 2. I'm pretty careful with my computer hardware and i havn't had any kind of accident yet with anything but things may change when going from a desktop to a laptop. Do you guys think CompleteCare is worth it? Has it ever saved you?

I have 3-year CompleteCare protection with my laptop. Accidents can happen no matter how careful you are, and with portable electronics, the potential for damage is even greater.

Well worth it IMO.

(I also have CC coverage on my Dell Axim x50v PDA -- for similar reasons).

Got 2 years + CompleteCare... seems like a worthwhile investment, along with the next business day on-site warranty which I've already used once so far. Getting a Dell tech to replace the video card since it reboots in CS:S. Plus I don't have to be afraid to take the lappy around since if it falls and breaks it can be fixed under this warranty. Plus I have heard of people getting brand new next-gen systems (like an XPS 2 when they had an XPS) when their old system breaks, maybe it's just cheaper for Dell to give them a new system than to do the repairs.

I purchased the 2 year limited warrenty (@home service) with the 2 year complete care as well. I know I'm a clutz. And my 9300 will be moved around a bit, so good investment I think.

I dunno, I got a 1 year warranty with mail in service so they can send me the parts and I can fix anything that breaks. No complete care either, but I guess it depends how careful you are and how tech savvy you are. Go with what you feel comfortable with.

For me it has nothing to do with being tech savy because i'm very capable of replaceing anything thats wrong with it but i thought the 2 year warranty would be nice if i decide to sell it next year. Alot of people wouldn't want to buy something that comes with no warranty.

I got the 2 year athome with complete care only because I'm taking my XPS to trashcanistan with me and I'll be real surprised if I don't break something on it. Normally I don't bother with warrantys... I've usually replaced or upgraded before anything has a chance to break.

I feel it is a very good investment and you can always extend your warranty.Laptop parts are pretty expeincive even if you have the warranty if you are comfortable replaceing parts yourself you can talk dell into leting you do so.It is a good option i feel one main componant can set you back a bunch and it puts my mind at ease knowing im covered.

Alright i just placed my order a few minutes ago. How much did you guys pay for your 9300/XPS 2? My subtotal was $1825.54 and after handleing and tax the final cost was like $1926. I should get another 3% FatCash back in a few months. I configured it with minimum specs except for i got the 8x DVD Burner, 2 year limited warranty and accidental damage and i went with Microsoft MCE for the OS. How did i do? Hot or about average?

I got an XPS 2 with a 40% off coupon and a $35 coupon.

sounds like a great deal to me! i got the 40% off also, saved over $800

Corporations release special services like accidental service because they want to make more $$$, not primarily to make their customers happier. Sure it may raise customer satisfaction, but $$$ is the primary objective.

I did not purchase accidental damage coverage.

And yes, 40% coupon for the win.

I didn't go for it. I've never damaged any of my other laptops and I figured since this one was less than $800, I could live without it. But, it's nice to have on the more expensive machines. I've heard of Dell upgrading your computer if it's "totaled".

Oh, and congrats on the new laptop, that's an awesome machine.

I just changed my order and put complete-care on my new lappy, cause my wife is kind of awkwardly *preparing for rain of fists tonite* ;-)

Your calling an awful lot of us idiots. I got 1 year @ home with NO CC. There are good reasons for getting it and then there are valid reasons for NOT getting the coverage. If you are attending school then yes get it. Same goes for people who travel a lot, take the lappy to work and home everyday, etc etc. Many people buy a laptop and it sits on a desk 99% of the time. If it moves its carried over to a chair or couch then back again.

With the exception of my trip to Canada right now I hardly leave our house due to an accident a few years ago (after 3 years I'm slowly recovering but looks like a few more to go ). My new laptop sits on my desk or is moved 4 feet over to a couch. While up here in Canada its been on a desk for the past 6 weeks and hasn't moved. The chances of it being damaged is EXTREMELY low!

Sooo.. I'd have been a complete idiot to have WAISTED the 400.00 that it would have cost me at the time for 4year CC coverage.

[/end rant] boo boo.. this isn't personal.. I'm just in a ranting/rambling mood tonight.. Been awake all damn night and its 6am.. cant sleep.
