'Chafing' - Page 2

Yes, but mine makes the journey with me to work everyday for Solidworks and FEA work (since my employer is too cheap to supply engineers with the proper equipment) and then gets brought home every night for checkbook and battlefield. So, leaving the lid open isn't an option. the palm wear would have happen even if we never closed them.

it is 17" and fits well, used when lappy is closed, obviously

their polishing cloths work very well also and are reasonably priced........
Thanks Mike - just placed an order. I have to close the lid - like Keisur, I haul my 7700 from work to home every day.

Yeah, I'd like to see what's going on with Keisur's lappy because I don't have any blemishes whatsoever. No offence Keisur, I just trust you!

I'll snap a pic tonight and post it. basically it's from the heat of the GPU heating the plastic and paint under my left palm. since I play battlefield so much and rest my hand on that area while keying W, A, S, and D for movement it's starting to wear away the paint where my hand is in contact with that area. Also, the shiny plastic strip that covers the LEDs at the top of the keyboard where the indicators are rubs on the bottom edge of the screen bezel when closed and I think the paint is rubbing off on it, should be able to buff that off. Also, where the screen bezel contacts the case around the perimeter (becuase the rubber tits aren't tall enough to prevent plastic-to-plastic contact) it's getting a little scuffed.

I'll post a couple pics tonight after work.

Well I undertand mostly what your trying to explain Keisur , I just had an insight into what I might do .

It would be great to cover it with contact under where your palm sits , but that would most certainly rip off the paint , which made me think of the plastic that sticks but isnt too sticky , its the plastic they use to protect lcd screens , you know the stuff im talking about?

It comes on mobile phones and should most likely cover the laptop screen when it comes fresh outa the box... That material is great for protecting that sort of thing without ripping or damaging the under surface.. but im not sure that after you remove it the little stickyness it has left might not be enough so.....

I think you can buy those screen protectors from mobile phone companys and pda accessory shops ... Might be an Idea , I will test it out when I get my laptop , this could be the answer to the gamers palm issue..

just my 2cents

ooops forgot to add....

In terms of the other problems where the rubber isnt thick enough it might be possilbe to either glue some sort of rubber stopper over the existing ones to give them more depth , but then again I dont have a laptop to look this over , I will work out the best solution to this problem when my laptop arrives...

I love doing this sort of stuff , but most of my previous problems solved where solved in a dodgy but effective way ... Since these machines are expensive, I will try and figgure out a better way than just stuffing some foam or rubber there... no promises , but will be fun to look into it..

cheers

The only thing about that is that it's gonna have to be a really thin piece of rubber. If you put something too thick in there it makes the clasps really load up, you know the two clasps that hold the lid shut. That's why I am using the pink motherboard foam becuase it's the thinest stuff I could find around the house to do the job. It's maybe as thick as two dimes on top of eachother, that should give you an idea of the skinny thickness needed so the clasps aren't real tight, also if the rubbers are two thick it could load up the hinges.

yea, that's what I was saying above. Clevo dropped the ball with the tits that don't even poke out of the hole they're in.

hopefully the AW engineers are taking note.

bigger rubber grommets on the laptop screen where it comes in contact with the case. wouldn't really make it look weird or ugly. maybe they could have an alien head embossed on the rubber grommets to make it look neat?

Same exact problem for me.if you look at the 2 lower inside rubber bumpers, they are completly flat as opposed to being rounded like the others. I would guess this is the problem, that while in transport the lid may be flexing in too far because the bumpers simply aren't there to prevent contact. As for the palm mark, its the heat. And maybe we play too many vid games.

All of the bottom ones are flat on mine.
