New Realtek Audio Drivers r1.24 8/24/2005

[ Warning (32bit systems): If you had a BSOD (or non-functioning) with the r1.16+ KB888111 drivers it is still there. It you aren't willing (or don't know how using WinZip or Winrar) to extract the the files and remove the MSHDQFE folder then do not install these drivers. Sager official Drivers still use KB835221 for 32bit Drivers so if you have a have system that has never had r1.116+ drivers on your laptop (as in a preinstalled system) then do it at you own risk. You will need KB835221 or KB888111 for the audio drivers to work. You can get KB835221 from the official Sager drivers or from the Realtek r1.15 if you can find them. But as I stated if you use KB888111 the resulting BSOD could cause loss of data or a sytem reinstall. ]

Right now they only on the Mirror Site.

anyone suffering from EXTREMELY crappy external audio (mine hisses even when theres no sounds) should try rolling back their drivers to microsoft's uaa function driver for hd audio. still sounds horrible, but not quite as horrible.

No, but I didn't have any probs with the update. Worked fine. BUT, I also created a new restore point just in case before I did it....

Thx. I dont think I will upgrade unless there's sound improvement- I might be waiting forever.

Sound in my laptop is good, but with some DVDs, the volume is too low

Could anyone confirm this?

After upgrading to 1.24 drivers my center channel and sub has stopped working. Please go to realtek sound manager, speaker config, 6 channel setup and test the channels. My center channel and sub had worked in the previous release and am wondering if this is wide spread. I have a 5.1 surround system so i select 6CH setup.

Which models have experienced the BSOD?

I purchased a Hypersonic Aviator EX7 for my wife, and it had the 9860 motherboard in it. It experienced the BSOD when trying to install newer versions of these drivers. Since then, however, the motherboard has been upgraded to the what is found in 9880 systems. I'd like to try the newer drivers, but don't want to risk the BSOD again. Have 9880 models experienced this problem, or is it isolated to 9860's?
My 9860 never had problems with new drivers. My 9880 never has problems with new drivers. Although the 1.24 druver caused my center channel not to work but 1.25 everything works fine. Some people had problems with there 9860s some didnt. I have not heard of anyone having problems with 9880s. Must be the new motherboard revision.
So, what exactly do these new drivers improve? I'm still using the original drivers that came with my 9880 (bought it in August). No BSOD here. Contemplating upgrading to the new drivers but, if there is no real benefit, then there is no real benefit...

Yes I have a Poping hissing sound. Not in the speaker that are built in the the laptop. It is only when I hook up external speakers. Also like some other People I am haveing Problems with Just plain sound quility. To me it is CRAP. I use Creative sound cards. So I might go get me one if them PCMIA cards.
