Beginner - Buy list for 4005

Greetings everyone,
I never owned a notebook. Now I have to buy it because I'm a college student with a full time online job. So I need to continue working with all my programs when I'm in college between the classes. I used remote desktop programs on the campus library to connect to my home computer, but that gets harder each time as there are limited number of computers in the library. BUT the college has many free wireless hotspots around the campus.

So I decided to get me a Ferrari 4005.

I don't know what I need to buy with this laptop. Extra battery? Carrying case? Power adapter? Wireless card? Wireless router for my home that will split the internet to my desktop and the laptop? docking station?

What do you thing I might need (or must have) else?
Where would you recommend me to buy these things? I wanted to buy the laptop on www.newegg.com ($2099.99).

Thank you in advance for you knowledge and time.

I went to newegg right away, but alas, it was $2099.99 after rebate.

Most people use an an AC adapter in my university library for laptops, and I assume you'll be using the adapter at home most of the time, so an extra battery really isn't required. I reccomend you get a good carrying case since you'll be walking with it a lot in college. It already has a great wireless card in it. Router if you want DSL or Cable on both your ferrari and desktop at home. Best to set it up through your desktop. A pair of headphones for the library. Buy what you need where it is cheapest...it's that simple (www.pricegrabber.com). Circuitcity.com has a great deal on D-Link G router..only $19.99 after rebates. Most of the better-known online retailers are fine and usually are the ones that can afford to sell something for a bit cheaper. The ferrari is the full package, so you really don't have to buy any added accessories. I do wish it came with a TV-Tuner though like some ASUS and TOSHIBA models out there.

Good luck.

Thank you. So I have to buy case, router and if I have enough $ left maybe a laptop.

PS
Oh plus minus $1000, what's the difference

I would also recommend that you buy a laptop cooling tray (cooling pad-whatever they are called). There are several available from different manufacturers. The tray has fans inside of it and connects by USB to your laptop as a power source. You set the laptop on the tray.

The Ferrari 4005 can get very hot on either side of the touchpad--uncomfortable on the wrists to the point that sometimes I just give up and stop using the computer for a while and then come back to it later on. The cooling tray helps a lot with this problem and does a good job of lowering CPU temp.

i like the heat on the wristpad cause my hands are always cold

You might want to look at the ASUS Z70 Refresh...it is a much cheaper option for those that cannot afford the Ferrari 4005.

Yes, I'll probably appreciate it more this winter. In fact I'm thinking it might help me save on heating bills. :-)

Heat on the Ferrari 4000 is minimial. It barely get warm at all. Unless your in a room with No AC/Cooling it will barely even be warm.

Yeah I haven't noticed My 4005 get very warm either. It does get warm when I have it Parked on my center consol in the truck where it gets it circulation cut off. But I don't do any hard gaming or anything like that when it's not well ventilated either. If I did I'm sure it would get very hot. CPU vents are still unblocked when I'm using it in this manner as that part of the laptop I keep hanging off the edge of my console. I do think a a cooling pad would be nice at home but I don't think I would want to deal with hauling it around and hooking it up everywhere. kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop I feel. although I do need one for this application in my truck so that I can play graphics intensive games in my truck without the worry of it overheating.
