hp pavillion zv5000 power cable repeatedly "unplugs"

I have had my notebook for over a year now and it hasn't given me many problem until now. I lose power randomly meaning that it is as if I pulled the power cord out of the back of the notebook leaving it on battery power. This has made my computer run out of power while I am away from it. My quick fix when I see it go to battery is to pull it out of the back wait a minute and put it back in. Also, sometimes it will "re-insert" itself without me touching it. Please help me, this is very annoying.

Okay...

I think you have that problem on some of the older zv5000's were the power plug gets lose from the systemboard... Its an easy fix for someone that knows how to work with electronics... But i would take it to http://www.ikenfixit.com/ and ask them about it because it sounds like a hardware/power problem. It also may be a problem with the AC adapter...

Zx,zv,zd

All of these are failing in high numbers.. These are a pain to do when it comes to tearing down and reasembling. We get 5 per week on average and would be more than happy to assist if you need outside help. Also thanx to Techng on the referral.. Good luck all!

LAME!

my power chord used to fall out of my old 5000.. but that was just the actual cable at the back. i'm very happy to see that my new 8000 has a positive lock on it so the cable requires a small force to remove it..

The newer models like the zd8000 have this problem corrected...

ZD,ZX,ZV.. All Compaqs prior to the ZD8k.. Dells, Sonys,(specific models), Gatewaste's have DC jack failure.. I have a patent atty. contacted for an Idea I came up with to eliminate issues on all DC jack woes for all models. Anybody want to invest? Just to get the manufacturers to buy now..
