HP Omnibook 6000 saying wrong CPU speed + other problems

Hello. I recently got a HP Omnibook 6000 with 256mb of ram and it has a 800mhz proccessor. It has a fresh install of windows XP SP2 and for some reason - under my computer properties it says the processor is 644mhz. Sometimes it reads 647mhz. I looked in the bios and i disabled speed stepping. Didnt change anything. Any idea why its doing this?

Also I have a few other problems.

I installed new sound card drivers and when i would reboot XP it would hang on the windows XP screen with the blue bar. ONly way to boot back up is to go into safe mode and disable the sound card. I then rolled back the driver to the ones that came with XP. And ideas?

Also: How do i disable system beeps?

Thanks.

Also: THere is a volume control on the right side of the laptop. If i press volume up it mutes the sound (but doesnt show mute in the comptures sound control panel.) if i press down volume nothing happens. And if i press the mute button nothing happens - other than the green LED turns on off. Any ideas?

Try what ever OS it was shipped with... See if problems go away... I've seen 3 systems now that HP supplys XP drivers for that dont work correctly under XP...

OKay- I fixed everything.

Other than this:

I installed the new sound drivers for the ESS Maestro 3 from their website (correct verison and everything.)

But the built in volume controller does not work. The up button mutes all in the volume settings the up button does nothing and the round mute button does nothing but turn on/off a green LED.

Please help.
