So we got our notebook today! And I've seen that many of you have requested more pictures and info on this notebook. I'll try my best.

Here's the goods: (Sorry for the poor quality)

If you wanna see any particular shot of the notebook or any angle just reply and i'll do my best! Also, i'll try to run some benchmarks.

P.S. : Big Props to xmeld.com. They replied to all my emails in a timely fashion, and shipped it to me (in Canada) before expected.

Awesome post! Thanks for the pics!

Do you have any movies or games to show the quality of the screen?

I'll be installing some games tomorrow (later today). I'll post them when i get them. I'll take in game screen shots.

We just ran 3dMark 2005 Free Edition on default settings and we got: 2232 marks.

Even under the heavy stress test the fan was not loud at all. Not even close to noise my desktop computer makes.

The only problem i can say we're having is getting a good connection with the wireless internet. However this is probably my fault and not the notebooks. I neglected to install the drivers on my desktop before i plugged in my wireless router (who does that!). I get some error about IP conflicts between the notebook and my desktop. I'll do some trouble shooting tomorrow.

I'll keep you guys posted if you're still interested.

I know your review is coming up soon but what are your thoughts on the screen... does it produce a lot of reflection in bright environments? What's your impression of the sound from the speaker?

Thanks

since we're asking question.. how's the heat, particularly the vent on the right, is it really noticable if ur using an external mouse (and you're right handed)

Thanks Soyo,

Oh btw, is that white cable the thing that connects to the black power brick?

yeah, its the cable that connects to the power brick, i wonder why they chose white and black, but im fine with it

I got mine yesterday. It does blow out quite a bit of hot air to the right but it's only noticable within six inches. Probably a good thing all that hot air is coming out. Mama always says better out than in.

I am a little disapointed with the screen. It reflects quite a bit and the image quality isn't as good as i'd like. No dead pixels though. I'm not very picky when it comes to displays though. I won't be bugged too much by these things, just posting for those who are woried about thier displays.

efree,

did you check your video settings? make sure you're on 32bit color, when I installed my vga drivers it defaulted to 16bit.

some people like the reflective screens more than others, but it does reflect like all the other tru-brite style LCDs.

does anyone know how this display compares to other glare type displays?

The reflection isnt really noticeable at all when your looking at it head on. It starts to reflect more when you move 45 degrees from the perpendicular. And even then its not that bad. Overall I'm happy with the screen. It's very sharp and no dead pixels

(Also, remember the lower you set the brightness of your screen the more reflection youll get)

I'd say the sound is fine for a laptop. It plays your high and middle frequency levels crisply. Of course, you dont really get the bassy lows, but thats acceptable for a notebook.

I dont really mind it too much. It's more warm then hot, even under heavy stress. It doesnt really blow on your hand, its just kinda flows out.

And since I live in Canada, an extra heater isnt always a bad thing Especially for those cold libraries, and basements.

Yea the power brick and the wall plug are two different colors. I like to think it matches the notebook with its black and gray colour scheme.

I'll try my best to answer more of your questions as you ask them. I didnt get a chance to take any screenies yet of games, but i will soon.

Oh, we did a informal batery test with the screen brightness all the way down and the wifi off. We got roughy 3.5 hours out of it.

(removed to not mess with the thread)

(edited): ops, sorry. I had two posts opened, this one and another of the 1013, which is a 12" Turion (I was taking a look on recent turion nbs). Probably I wrote on the wrong one, sorry...

I don't know what you meant by 12", but this notebook (MSI MS-1029) has a 15.4" widescreen lcd.

Wait a sec; I didn't know it was available in Canada. Where'd you get it from, and at what price?

Hello from Vancouver, btw, where it's really cold in the morning (I never wake up this early [9:34AM]... well, not lately).

Soyo: Why are there two ATI stickers on your laptop? I guess they forgot to put in the Turion sticker :P
