My Asus Z70va running extremely cool

The temps were about 55-60 under normal usage and once I did a under volt with CHC down to 6x at 0.700, it now runs around 45-50 its amazing. The vent doesnt even blow any hot air

Wow. I am quite jealous. The coolest I've ever seen mine is 49. With normal usage, it runs consistently at 58-59 at 16x (max performance) or 52-53 at 6x (using speed stepping). Hmm...maybe if I pour AS5 down every orifice I can shave off another degree!!! (or completely destroy my computer...)

How do I make my computer switch between 6x and 16x?
I just sometimes use dynamic switching and sometimes I don't. Right click on the flag icon for CHC and you'll see those options. Since I'm plugged in there's no reason not to use max performance, but I like to see those temps get down at 6x so when I'll sometimes put it on the dynamic switching settings.

They usually switch themselves when needed- even at default settings. There are many threads on using CHC, try looking them up. They're everywhere.

I got to find how low people go with 15x...The temp goes to 60 running full power.
so you're getting temps similar to the Z71v with undervolting? What's your secret? It's that Japanese air, isn't it?
I've managed to get my normal usage 6x temp down to 46/47 C. How? Lifted up the laptop to improve ventilation underneath. That's where most of the heat goes. Seems to run a bit quieter, too. Right now I have 4 CD cases, one on each corner (lol) but some sort of lifting is definitely going to be part of my permanent setup once I get to school on Monday.

Artek,

Aren't you going to do a full review like you said you would?

Yes, I already wrote one...Its long and it will be up on www.notebookreview.con soon with lots of pictures.

Nice, looking forward to it. It is good that notebookreview.com has one of its own review on it and you are providing it with its first z70va review. Besides that, you also get some cash for your review.

Artek-

HOLY SMOKES! My current CPU is 40, HD is 28.

Generally speaking with my current setup I get low 40s until I do something CPU intensive, at that point I get up in the 50s and won't get back down into the 40s until I reboot. HD always does a steady climb up to about 50 where it levels off. Wonder if there's some way I can halt that.

Hmmm...HD just went up to 29 and right at that moment some fan-sounding thing kicked in. Does that make sense?

artek do you recommend using CHC over Power4Gear?
I'd use CHC instead of Power4Gear. Just make sure you're not using both. I can see others that may have forgotten to or didn't know you should uninstall one or the other. Don't let that me you.
So having Power4Gear on the computer (even though its not running) could affect CHC's performance somehow?

I currently have both installed on this machine, but am running Power4Gear since I didn't see any difference using CHC (with mad undervolting) ... I should uninstall Power4Gear entirely?
Dont have to, but I did only because I wouldnthave the need for it. CHC handles everything just fine.

wow.... I guess Turions runs cooler than PM's cause my Ferrari runs at 36-38 while surfing, office'ing', listen to internet radio, etc... AND it's not undervolted. However, while gaming it goes as far as 75, 80 sometimes, but never higher.
