External TV Tuner for Laptop

Sorry for this n00b question, but this is the kind of thing posters here will know.

I am looking at buying a gaming laptop for LAN parties. I hate to wag my desktop around with me every time my friends get together to play. They also play a lot of XBox games, so what I'm thinking about is an external USB tv tuner so I can use my laptop as an XBox monitor. I already do this with my desktop with acceptable results. The only thing I'm concerned about is that I have heard some tv tuners have a delay between what you see on the screen and what actually comes in. My question is this: do any of the posters here know of a good usb tv tuner, preferably one that accepts s-video signals, that doesn't have a delay in it so it can be used in place of a tv with my xbox?

I have a Hauppauge PVR USB2, great for watching TV, S-vid in, but it does have the delay. There is a registry entry you can use to cut the delay from a second or so to a few milliseconds but picture quality suffers a bit. Generally, card bus and non-encoding USB cards have the least delay. TvCards.com is a pretty good board to search for more info.

The ATI TV Wonder USB 2.0's doesn't have much delay if any at all from what I remember.

I just got the AverMedia UltraTV USB 300. I could not get any sound to play. The AverMedia support rep told me that you cannot get sound with any Dell laptop, that the line-in jack does not support Live audio input. He assumed that the same must be true of my Asus. Aside from not being able to get sound I was satisfied with the video performance as well as the software, so I am exchanging it for the AverTV Cardbus, which is essentially the same thing in PCMCIA form. The one thing about the software is that it's a bit ugly and clunky, but it gets the job done.

i just got a DSE cardbus TV tuner, which i beleive is a rebadged lifeview flytv cardbus. Seems to work fine. has s-video input. theres a slight delay, about 1/10 sec. video resolution is reduced to (i think) VCD size when timeshifting. haven't tried playing around and tweaking or getting 3rd party software yet.

Get the new Fusion5HDTV USB tuner for laptops. I has even another tuner for QAM builtin. It's even MCE2005 ready accoring to the DVICO site.
