Router/Wireless issue

I hope someone can help me out... my 9300 keeps dropping its internet connection, which really sucks when I am trying to play Neverwinter nights online... every 15 minutes or so my connection drops. All I have to do to reconnect is go into the Wireless Network Connection Status panel / Support tab/ and click on repair... but I can't play anything online without getting kicked off repeatedly. How can I tell if its my router or my wireless card? Anyone have any suggestions?

router = Dlink DI 514

Hi

I have a smiliar problem with my network card. In plain truth its the card Intel 2200......its crap.

I have just had a replacement sent by Dell to try and fix this problem but am not expecting any great improvement.

I will give it a try if no luch will demand a different model, which they siad they would get if this did not improve things.

Regards

To both cases, your connection will work fine if you set it up properly. I had the exact same problem before, seeing it drop from 54Mbps to 1Mbps and then fail. First, you need to make sure your router is set up properly. My Netgear was getting too hot and the heat was killing it's output strength. I added some heatsinks to it, changed the channel from 11 to 7 to help it not get interference from the house phone (which is also 2.4GHz). After that, go to yuor card's settings: Control Panel > Network Connections > Wireless Network Connection > Properties (a new window will pop up) > click "configure" next to your wireless card under the general tab. From here you can configure you wireless card correctly. Make sure that the channel is the same as the router. I also enabled Throughput Enhance, put power management to highest, and made sure transmit power was on highest. Now my signal never drops below 11Mbps even when I am across the house or 200ft.+ away outside.

HAD the same issue

I was getting P I S S E D . This is how I fixed it. It said it was connected, but basically it was not "really" connected. I UNINSTALLED the 2200pro wireless from the device manager and rebooted. Basically it clear the setting completely and when you fire up you can reconfigure. MY experience is the more you FOOK around with the setting the more issues you have. Try that see if you have any luck and get it right the first time!@@@@2 WWWWWWWOOOOT

I had no problems staying connected to my router... it was just dropping the internet. I have had my router and network set up for quite some time with no problems. My first thought was that my wireless portion of my router might be malfunctioning, so I wired my computer to the router. Still had the same problem. Next, I bypassed the router and connected directly to the cable modem... guess what... same issue. I just replaced my cable modem and it's fine. Basic truoble shooting skills to isolate the issue can save you from spending money to replace things that arent broken.

Try this link pchell.com

A lot of people say intel card's arent that good well i have had the 2200 and the 2915 to both work flawless once configuired properly.Different hardware and routers & modems have to be configuired different and also i let windows control my conection because my intel pro 2915 has like 6 more runing processes so i uninstaled all but the wireless network driver after i configuired and got it working good.

Are you people with problems letting Windows control it or using that crappy intel program. If you're using the intel program then you've found your problem. Once I uninstalled that (except the drivers of course) I've never had a problem. And I'm in a freaking third world country right now running off a wireless server that I don't even know where it is. Runs peachy at the full 54 Mbs, even though it would be beyond my wildest dreams to expect speeds like that from the gerbil driven internet here..
