Greasy Fingers and my Precious Screen

Well, I looked up some topics on this but for some reason most of the horror stories of the keys engraved into the screen were from the Sager forum. I'm just curious if Toshiba is big on the transfer fat from keyboard to screen effect or are is it designed so that doesn' t happen. Lastly, do you guys put anything between the screen and keyboard before you close the laptop lid? I put a little piece of material that came with my laptop there everytime but just wondering if I should stop bothering and just clean the screen from time to time instead.

i havent seen any issues with that but i guess it could happen, i use an extra microfiber cloth that i have here (really thin one) for between the screen and the keyboard on my lappy.... cleaning your screen regularly is a good idea too....

I don't know if they're designed to prevent it, but in my laptop I do use a thin spongelike sheet that a friend of mine got me from his work. Apparently they actually use it for some kind of packing material.

My siblings have had Toshiba notebooks for I don't even know how long and they have never put anything between the keyboard and the monitor and as for myself I have never put anything between the keyboard and the monitor.
I have had mine for 3 years.

I remembered talking to the Techie at the store where I bought mine wondering if i should put something between the two and he showed me a toshiba notebook where the owner had it in because he had been using a long thin grey/black spongy material between the keyboard and the monitor and the Techie imagined that the material eventually broke down after opening and closing the notebook and then reinstalling the material as he had to clean out the keyboard of bits ( the keyboard was sticking) He advised me not to put anything in between and showed me all the pieces of material he had removed. Some bits were quite hard, he said very likely because of the heat off the notebook just after use and inserting the material.
Just my 2 cents.

Get a 3M microcloth and a spray bottle of lens cleaner that you use for polycarbonate lenses (i.e. regular eyeglasses)... it's all you need. It's usually anti fog and anti stat... anti stat is good...

spongy thing...

Dont use it... it will eventually pick up dust and you'll start scratching/buffing the screen surface. Kind of like putting 1500 grit sandpaper between the keyboard and the screen... bad idea. Just keep it clean with the microcloth and some lens cleaner. That's what this stuff is for.

Anybody wanna second that? I can see the logic in that but I heard a lot of people still do that so...
