Ok so I had my zv6000 for about a week and today I go home and turn it on and with the power on the screen is dim, but without the power cord and running only on battery its bright but thats not even the problem. Theres a huge green line running down the right side of the screen. I guess I only have one solution, exchange it for a new one since it hasnt been 30 days yet. I just dont wanna wait 14 days to get a new one.

btw heres whats on it: 3500+, 80gb 5400rpm, lightscribe, 1gb ram, xp pro, pretty much the works.

It's a nice machine, but you should definitely exchange it for a new one. That green line will not go away with use...

is the green line a common problem cause I love the machine but I just would hate to keep on exchange this thing, or even better get screwed and have it be later than 30 days and have to send it to HP and wait forever for it to be fixed.

Also quick question, if I had the laptop upside down in my notebook case then turned it on would that cause the green line?? thanks guys

no, the green line is just a faulty lcd screen component somewhere, i think. YOu should have no problems carrying your laptop in any position. Just exchange it, the green line should not be a common probelm

Green lines are extremely rare. I haven't heard of one in years, let alone seen one... Last time, I think, I saw one in a very old and almost crashing laptop from the early 1990's.

Normal use should not cause such problems, unless the machine already has some problem that only shows after some slight abuse. When turned off, you should be able to carry a healthy computer around in a notebook case whichever way you can fit it into one without causing any problems.

Wow early 1990's I must have great luck. Yeah Im definately making a trip to Circuit City tomorrow. I should like get a free warranty since I have bad luck with stuff like this, seriously theres always something thats messed up with something I buy brand new.

In the future, this what HP told me to do it resets the hardware for BOTH AC and battery (this sounds like a bios upgrade maybe too here).

Disconnect the AC AND BATTERY. Wait a few minutes now insert the battery AND AC then turn on. It should reset the hardware but not changes made in XP or bios problems. This is good to know because the ac should be much brighter than the battery and the F45 bios fix for mine fixed all this.

Otherwise I suspect a bad filter capacitor in the power brick. They are not well filtered in general.
