Replaced my DVD Rom with DVD R/W but

because the Rom was Hitachi and the R/W is NEC the face plate is not compatible! So beware when someone tells you that the face plates all interchange without a problem! :

Just send back the slimline burner you bought and get a refund and purchase a regular NEC IDE DVD burner and put it in an external case and use it via USB 2.0 or Firewire. Its cheaper and the desktop burners perform better then the slimline drives.

That's what I do... a 16x lite-on DVD burner via USB 2.0. DVDs take 20 minutes to burn, including the time to make the image. CDs (@48x) take 2-3 minutes to burn.

does n e one remember when it used to take 1 hour to 2 hours to burn a cd, set it and go make a cup of tea lol
