i have suddenly found myself in the market for a DVD burner and was looking around, newegg has 4x burners for as cheap as $150. i'm a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for', so i'm kinda worried about going for the cheapest game on the block. any recommendations are greatly apprecicated!

Yeah

My friend has the new Plextor one 8x Dvd+R and it also writes 4x DVD-R, he says he likes it soo far and i think that one goes for $220ish? They also have some other brands of 8x Burners on there for alittle cheaper!

Hope this helps,
John

My friend's got a TDK and he said it's not so much his burner that burns the coasters but the media he gets.

Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with TDK, Sony, or Plextor (of course).

what do you folks think of Lite-On? newegg is selling their 4x DVD burner for $95!!(internal)...and 26 5 star user reviews on this drive....

I used to build tons of systems with Lite-On cdrw drives but back then, they didn't have dvdrw drives. From my experience, Lite-Ons are great drives. Nearly a thousand installs, only about 10-20 had problems.

I think their dvd burners should be okay if their quality is anything like their cd burners.
