Hell with that big of a laptop, you would have room for a car battery in the case, it would only had a few dozen pounds.

Might as well just produce one of these..

If you think 19'' is overkill wait until Dell release their 20'' deskbook in january!Current marketing strategy is aiming at execs and senior business types

PROTIP: 17" desktop replacements are not meant to be put on your lap. I don't know why so many people bitch about the 9300/xps burning their crotch. It is meant to be put on a desk obviously.

I bet no one would complain that things are to small. I am typing this on my desktop PC with a Dell 2001FP (20.5inch) with a max res 1600x1200 and its a perfect size.
Yeah well unfortionately that is a reason I never buy LCD's for desktop's, 1920x1200 is barely tollerable on a 17" screen, it really should have been higher, 1920x1200 on a 15.4" screen was optimal I would say. not even WUXGA on a 19" is rediculus.

It really pisses me off that viewsonic seems to have discountinued their CRT P line, i really would like to see some manufacturor come out with higher resolution LCD's, all the LCD's I have seen have crap for resolution, except the really high resolution 3840x2400 however those have crap response time. I run at 2560x1920 on my 22" CRT, which is more than double the resolution of my laptop, and almost any other LCD you can buy.

If 1920 * 1200 is "barely tolerable" on your GEN 2, then 1024 * 768 must make your eyes bleed on your I6000. . . .

I believe you are in the very small minority wanting anything higher than 1920 * 1200 on a 17" screen. (At least until the next version of windows is out that fully supports a DPI setting other than 96.)

Had it on my lap once for a whole night.
From 19:00 to 01:00 just surfing and MSN-ing.
No problem.
Today I played Unreal Tournament 2 hours straight and it got hotter of course.
But still, doesn't burn or overheat my legs or crotch.
(Except when the sun is shining on my directly, then my body starts to get self-cooling and heat distribution problems... other then that!...)

My 17" sure beats taking a desktop PC to a LAN party...what's a couple more inches?

What are you crazy? I cant imagine reading text to be any kind of pleasure at that resolution loll , why not make the resolution soo high that text looks like bit of tiny dots, you cann see four pages of it and boy the screen sure is sharp ROFL

LOL, I wonder if Dell's advances in miniaturization can also make 19 inches take up less space than the standard 19 inch measurement we are all used to hehe... gotta say though 1680x1050 is dissapointing bigtime..

Well it's not perfect but that is actually a very interesting product. Personally, I think the idea of a detachable LCD is brilliant. It opens up some interesting possibilities .. for instance, you could hook up to a console and use your laptop LCD for true HIDEF gaming, which is ironically exactly what I want to be able to do. Hrm.

Hmm...lusting after 19 inches of pure lovin already....

No, seriously, that's too much lappy. 17 is, I agree, just right for those of us who love large screens AND portability.

Because some ppl can see and read small text pretty well

Seriously, we can.

Oh yeah, back to the 19" laptop. My philosophy is that if it can fit in a backpack comfortably, isn't that heavy, and isn't big enough to cause you any real setting up problems or make you liable to get laughed at, then you've got a pretty good mobile desktop system / DTR. Well, I'm sure you could even use it on your lap, too (just make sure you're in a secure sitting/reclining position).
