M6N Audio Problem !

Thread Starter
I m having a very strange problem with Audio device on my M6Ne.
It was working fine but somedays now the Windows gave me the message "there is no audio device installed on your computer". So i went to Device Manager and there was no Audio Device there. I restarted the notebook and the C-Major Audio Sigmatel apeared with an exclamation. I tried to reinstall the driver and all seemed to work fine. Restarted the note again and the C-Major Audio Sigmatel disapeared again !!!!! Sometimes it apears with the exclamation and I can reinstall the driver. It works fine till I reboot. It´s making me crazy.
Anyone knows what´s happening ?

PS - I m using the - Sigmatel Audio Driver v6.14.01.3863

I dont a have a restore point :-(. I have installed the driver from ASUS CD, and the one avaliable in the M6N website ( older than the one in CD ). The problem is that the WIndows is not detecting the sound card any more. Sometimes it detects it. So I install the driver and everything works fine. If I restart, the sound card isnt detected any more. Maybe and Motherbord ( sound controler ) problem ???

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

It sounds like you've already reinstalled the drivers, though you didn;t mention if you used ASUS Live Update to do it. Try it if you haven't already. I have had good luck with it.

Another way to approach it is to go to the 'Computer Management' dialog, go to 'Device Manager', then highlight 'Sound, Video, and Game Devices'. Right Click and select 'Scan for Hardware Changes'.

I know it's most likely not a hardware problem, but a software problem, but I had the same thing happen to my M6BN a few months ago and this solved it (why? I don't know...).

Let the scan run, do what it says, and reboot.

Good luck.
