A4 Battery Life? Defective? 2 hours?

As many of you know I have a A4, a few weeks old.

Now I thought the life was supposed to be 3-4 hours?

When I use my laptop just for browsing and set the laptop power for Laptop or Presentation ,I get about 2 hours which incendently sets the CPU at 797mhz, if I set to always on, of course, it goes to 1.6 ghz.

Should I call and complain, especially with the problems that I have had or is this usage about the norm? I feel like it's somewhat misleading as I can't get 3-5 hours, or more than 2 hours no matter how I set the CPU usage.

PPS, not that I think this will make a difference but I am using the windows XP power controls. Which program do I need to install from Toshiba to use the Toshiba Power Utility since I re-installed Win XP?

The A4s that I have seen the specs of all say 2.5 hours max...which translates to about 2 hours (with the 6 cell battery you get with it) - I have a Celeron version which does do about 2 hours. So, I think you misread the specs...

Actually the specs say up to 3 hours 15 minutes, so I should be content with 2?

In addition according to some tech sites, some say the major difference between Celeron M and P4 M was the battery life. If you are getting 2 hours, this is simply not the case.

Would be curious to see what everyone else is getting for battery life. Also, FWIW, my charger says Lite-On, yet Toshiba in small print.

well.... here goes....

you should be accepting of the little over 2 hours you are getting cause it is the same as that being had by those with the m40. that may sound strange until you realize that the tecra a4 is based on the m40, and is essentially a tecra-ized m40, so it would be logical that it would have the same battery life with the same battery.....

3 hours is technically possible if you turn down the screen brightness, as well as turn off things like wifi and all un necessary programs.
