It plays absolutely everything else, but not store bought DVD's.
It will show the first frame of a chapter, then stall. If I try to close the media player, it freezes the whole computer completely. As I said, everything else will play fine on the same media player.
Software is both WMP10 with NVidia trial and WinDVD 4. I also tried InterActual video player, and Blaze Video with exactly the same results.
Everything has been unistalled that I can think of that might conflict with video playback (RMP, QT, Nero, Blaze)
Toshiba site recommends:
DVD-ROM can not play a DVD in the drive or certain types of CD media (i.e. CD-plus, etc.)
* Is the DVD-R/-RW Combo drive driver loaded
- I think so - otherwise ti wouldn't read CD's etc., right?
* Is the DVD disc the correct format for the type of system that you are using? (i.e. on a PC an ISO9660 IBM compatible PC format as opposed to Apple/Mac HFS disc or UNIX disc formats which will not function).
-YES I am using store bought DVDs
* Do you have the correct software applications program/drivers installed to run a DVD disc?
-WMP10 and WinDVD 4 - re installed a couple of times
* Has the Windows DVD-R/-RW Combo drive software driver program been corrupted by a virus. Run a Virus Scan program and repair if possible. Contact Technical Support if the Virus renders the software drivers not useable.
-Not according to Norton
Any Help? Any body? Much thanks!
