In case someone MISSED IT.

Will the 8886 and 8887 be available concurrently for awhile? I'm waiting to see the actual specs of the 8887 before I make a purchase, but I don't want to miss out on the 8886 if the 8887 removes some of the legacy support.

I am trying real hard to wait patiently before ordering my Sager. I have decided on the 5660 based on the feedback from those in this forum. PCTorque is making it harder and harder to standby until my tax return is done. The deal just gets better and better every week.

Oh Please do tell me that the new uxga ended up on my 5660 that you sent out just today?I'll kick myself if my laptop gets shipped with the old uxga the same day that the new one is announced!

Aaaargh!
I knew I should have waited another couple days!
My 5660 has been shipped with the old display.
The grass is ALWAYS greener on the display I didn't get!
Oh well, maybe my display will break and I can get the new one
It's okay I guess because I have a gnarly technology addiction and I will probably have to get a new laptop in 18 months anyways.........

About the new screen - this is the most painful news I've heard for a long while; particularly after having just bought the 5660 myself! (sigh)

You think you're alone??

Peeps - I gave vent to similar emotions not too long ago and I am surprised that - after a while of thinking about it - I dont really care anymore !!

I mean...Sure the new screen will be great if you're watchig movies with a coupla friends - But hey!! Aint no coupla friends gonna fit in my 'partment!!

Besides - the prices are going up like tonight (on the uxga) - be happy and be satisfied - there's at least one more person like me - whos laptop is in transit while a new version comes out!!!

People who already have laptops - stop reading the news/info/rumours section of the forums will save you a lot of hair loss and mental torture...

30 day money back!?!?

Anyone thinking of doing the 30 day money back??

I am planning to talk to Sager about this - if they will take it back in and do the upgrade for a little extra - or if they'll give me a refund and i'll get another through Adam. Either another newer 5660 or the soon to arrive 8887...

Confusing and upsetting...its the worst time to be making decisions like buying a Sager - they are on the threshold of getting out new models.

I promised myself that I wouldnt be upset because I was thinking of M10 and the next one to beat that. I dont think i'll be upset enough to do the refund but its just an idea for the other peeps who are not as happy as I am hoping i'll be

The Problem

gsferrari, the problem with most people is that sometimes we display sado-masochistic tendencies. Even after having received the latest machine, a lot of us can't wait to see if we have been screwed-over by the technological cycles.

Will you really stop reading the progress of the Sagers, or any -other- technology for that matter? It's hard to do, isn't?

Cheers.

Dagnabit! me too! lol! Well, this is how it goes in this industry. I actually figured the 9500 would start shipping, so thankfully that hasn't happened yet. It's just funny, the first webpage I go to on my 5660 after receiving it, is this one to read this news

Well, for this, you get a

Question for PCTORQUE:

Do you know if the new UXGA screen for the 5660 is 24 bit, or is it still 18 bit?
And more questions for PCTorque:

Will the new car adapter also allow you to plug into standard airplane power jacks (like the PowerXtender's that are available for all the other, major brands)?

Will the 8887 have the same new screen that is coming out in the 5660?

If I could get an 8887 with UXGA and an internal WiFi adapter, my laptop prayers might finally be answered.

Thanks.

Aaargh!!

I know what you're talking about Alien The very same day Sager decides to move on

But anyway - your rig will not perform any differently than the new one - you'll be pulling out hairs in June though when the M10 gets revealed in the sager 5660.

By then i'll convince my brother that this current one is the bestes in the world and sucker him into taking it. Hello June!!!

StuartV666, I do believe your prayers will be answered: The 8887 will feature a 16.1" UXGA Screen, AND (according to PCTorque), the antenna required for miniPCI internal wireless cards!

Cheers.

M10 prolly won't come out til late this year, so it prolly won't be in Sagers til later than that.

I was wondering if the new 8887 screen is the same wide-angle type with high contrast? That would be sweet :-)

Hmm...

I'm thinking about getting a 5660 in the next couple of weeks...is there really a big difference in the new UXGA and the other screens? Particularly if I don't game heavily (War III, Civ III, Madden 2k3) Hmm, and have any of you guys had any hardware probs w/ the Sagers? Anything serious that I should know about...?

-Big monkey.

PS. any links to more detail about the new UXGA screen?
