Need Recommendation... PLEASE!

I'm currently in need of a laptop for school and business (programming/powerpoints/docs/graphics, mainly photoshop). I have never bought a laptop before, and with all these brands and choices I'm going nuts over which brand would do the job... I'm also on a tight budget... hehe.

I have a few I'm contemplating over:

Dell Inspiron 6000
Dell Inspiron 700m
HP dv1000
HP dv4000
HP Ze2000z

Any recommendations are welcome, share your personal exp.

Iono about the rest but I saw the inspiron 6000 two days ago at the mall and wow it was beautiful. I've read a couple of its spec but can't remember all of it. Though I saw somthing like 5 hours and 40 somthing minute of battery life and it just caught my attention. 5 hours + of batter life without undervolting is somthing to be consider. The price range is about a grand but with 35 to 40 % coupon you probably could get it for about 600 somthing. As for Dell Inspiron 700m, HP dv1000, HP dv4000, HP Ze2000z .... can't really comment on any of em because I dont know they're spec or anything about them. Just sharing my weekend experience at the mall with the i6000 with you.

You may want to get recommendations on the Dell's in the Dell forum
and on the Hp's in the Compaq/HP forum. You would likely get more opinions that way from the users of those machines. Also, welcome to the forums.

Yeah, the 6000 sounds perfect for you. The 700m will also be good, but the 6000 will be better for PhotoShop. Of course, if you're looking for maximum portability, the 700m is the way to go. With either system, get lots of RAM. I suggest getting the basic amount from Dell, which should be about 256MB, and then upgrading by buying a 1GB stick from a place such as Crucial or NewEgg.

Note: everything I said about the 6000 being better at PhotoShop relies on you getting the dedicated video card. If you're getting the integrated, a 700m will be just as good.
