Is a thermal solution for laptop in general necessary? i.e. Arctic 5. How about for the z70va? Is it worth purchasing?

The intel stuff is fine... AS5 is only needed for desktops or notebooks that use P4 cpus.

Well, SOME kind of thermal goop is needed regardless. Arctic Silver 5 is popular, but on a Pentium M CPU, it probably won't make too much of a difference over the standard Intel stuff.
